how would rudy t have handled these current players compared to adeleman? lineups and offensive and defensive sets?
yao would get the ball every time down the floor to start the offense. the floor would be spread with at least 3, maybe 4 3pt shooters around the arc. and there would be almost no movement without the ball.
You don't bash Rudy for that tactic. You praise him. He got with the times, utilized our strength, used the rules to our advantage, and had a below average team overachieving. Hell, the rules changed because of exploits like the one Rudy used. Thats a good thing... This team isn't professional enough for Rudy to handle. Same problem Adelman is having. You need a disciplinarian to give this group and identity.
The sign of Greatness The league makes rules to STOP YOU [Hakeem] and not make rules to help YOU [JORDAN] Rocket River YEA . . I SAID IT!!!
is there any way we can get him back? i read about his work related stress and the impact it had on his health...but surely if we gave him daily massages and valium...he would make it through?
Love Rudy, but a player's coach is the last thing you want with McGrady. Steve walked all over Rudy and everything fell apart. His tenure in LA was DOA because Kobe knew he didn't have a whip on him. Adelman can't keep McGrady playing with effort, Rudy would be the same story. Rudy was perfect for professionals like Dream and Clyde. Yao and Battier would be a good match with him, though. Evan
he will help us get back the heart of a CHAMPION and no one will under estimate us like they are now but honestly, here are some stats and points to ponder on : In his 11-plus season tenure as Rockets head coach, Rudy Tomjanovich posted a 503–397 (.559) regular-season record and a 51–39 (.567) playoff mark. Jeff Van Gundy joined the Rockets as the 10th head coach in franchise history on June 11, 2003. In three seasons, Van Gundy has guided the Rockets to a 130-116 record, as his winning percentage of .528 stands as the third highest of any coach in Rockets history. Van Gundy also led Houston to consecutive playoff appearances (2003-04, 2004-05), while posting winning records in nine of his 10 NBA seasons. He boasts a career coaching mark of 430-318, as his winning percentage of .575 ranks eighth among active coaches and 22nd in NBA history. Van Gundy also owns a career 44-44 (.506) record in the postseason. Rick Adelman became the 11th head coach in Rockets history on May 23, 2007, returning to the bench after a season away from the NBA. Adelman owns a career record of 826-519 (.614) in 16 NBA seasons as a head coach with the Portland Trail Blazers (1988-1994), Golden State Warriors (1995-1997), Sacramento Kings (1998-2006) and Houston Rockets (2007-Current). He has recorded the sixth most wins among active NBA coaches behind Don Nelson (Golden State), Pat Riley (Miami), Jerry Sloan (Utah), Phil Jackson (L.A. Lakers) and George Karl (Denver). Adelman stands as one of only five head coaches in league history to win 60 or more games with two different teams. He also holds a career 72-72 (.500) mark in the postseason, as his teams have reached the playoffs 14 times in 16 seasons. Looking at those stats, i have to say, we're lucky to have had 3 great coaches the past 16 years. I know RA did a bonehead decision by leaving Rafer in the game and losing in NO, but hey give the guy a break, he guided us to 57-25 in his first season giving us a 22 game winning streak. This means we shouldnt judge him based on a few lousy game he had so far and not forgetting our record is better than last season as of this point and he's been having injury woes. I say we give him until the end of the season then we judge him, his ultimatum (with a healthy squad) bring us past the 1st round and beyond. if it doesnt happens, then lets part ways and find a more suitable coach. hows that sound to y'all? i know losses are hard to accept but its like marriages, its always ups n downs n we have to just see it through when its down. RA stats speak for itself
Rudy is exactly the kind of coach Tracy needs. He is a motivator and could get Tracy to believe in himself again.
iso...dribble, dribble...weakass pick...dribble, dribble...iso...dribble, dribble...4-3-2-1 desperation shot off the rim.
Point well made. By the look of our record, I'd say RA has done fairly well with so many injuries this year.
almost! but JVG wouldn't have 4 guys around the 3pt line. he would have 3 and a PF who clogs the lane for yao because hes more worried about the rebound. he would also feature yao in PnR offense till yao tired himself out.
