CV is the best player in the deal, we lose Landry but do get a taller, better shooter. they have completely different types of game and maybe CV might compliment Scola and Yao, and also shoot better due to Yao and Mac and Ron Ron.

I'm all for it. don't want Mihm, but he is a legit 5.

Hopefully Yao calls the Bucks GM and tells them to "Eat the Head" and package Head with Landry. If we can get rid of Head i'm all for this trade.

This doesn't make us any better. Villanueva is a soft and doesn't play defense. Landry is your better, prototypical PF. I would take Villanueva in a different offer -- just not at the expense of a player like Landry.

I would, Landry's ceiling isn't as high as CV, and i think CV would excel in RA's offense, he'd get a lot of open looks.

    don't want mihm though.

...there might be a surprise in the later part of this week for all the Bucks fans out there in regards to our team. I'm sure it will be all over the message boards by then but you can say we will receive a present we didn't expect. Which I think can definitely help us. So you can tell all your friends you heard it here first.

This is what sparked the rumor. It's pure speculation.

Not interested in Villanueva at all. Uneven effort would be overly kind.

This is an interesting possible deal to say the least.

Comparing the two, Charlie V has better numbers:

Then you add Charlie V's EFF (13.15) to Landry's EFF (11.55).

Charlie V is actually a year younger as well.

I always thought Charlie V would be a nice player with the Rockets next to Yao, but never thought at the expense of Landry who is a nice player in his own right and a fan favorite.

A couple of things I thought about....

    a) How concerned are the Rockets about Landry's knee?

    b) How much say is RA having in this possible deal? Does he see the possibility of having a Webber-esque (albeit light) 4-man in his offense (ie: shoot and pass from the high post)?

Interesting deal indeed, especially since the Rockets would be getting a backup big man with size in Mihm.

CV is an interesting player, where his skill set of 3/4 will create more mismatch. He put up alot of shots, but his ability to provide spacing for yao is something that the other PFs cant give.

He can finished his fast break with a jam, instead of a feeble lay up(scola) and is able to dribble(landry).

And one more thing, CV is a hustler!!! Check out some of his games before saying that. Imagine Rashad Lewis with lot less talent and a lot more hustle. Thats CV.

My biggest worry is that Landry is damaged goods. He doesn't have nearly as much explosiveness as last year, IMO.

I really like Landry but if he is just gonna be a constant injury risk ...then get rid of him NOW while he has some trade value. That said, I like this trade.

If this rumor is true, I suspect this this is why they sent Dorsey to the D-league. If Landry goes away, then maybe they are prepping Dorsey to get some more PT and need him to spin his wheels in the D-League first.

Good post, krosfyah. I think Dorsey is a long ways away, but we'll see.

I hadn't heard this rumor... but I was just talking the other day with someone about how if the Rockets wanted to get a good piece from a team not in contention, they'd have to be looking at moving Landry or Brooks. The other smaller nuggets they had were Dorsey, the second rounder from Memphis (now gone in the Francis trade) and maybe the Lior Eliyahu contract. Given Brooks' emergence and our need at the position, it really leaves Landry.

I don't think I'm a huge Villanueva guy, but this is the type of deal the Rockets may need to explore to get some legitimate size at the position. I thought earlier in the year though that Carl Landry was playing like our best player and you could make a case he should start over Scola.

I would be suprised if the Lakers would make any kind of deal that might make us more competitive against them.

The Lakers are a problem for us because of their size, and usually the mentality is don't help your rivals. I don't think they have any significant needs either....not with Trevor Ariza playing the way he is. (How do they get these guys).

I agree that making Landry tradebait is a wise decision, he's a valuable yet expendable asset when you consider we have Scola and Hayes at PF. And we must get taller at the 4 and sign Deke as a back-up 5 to make a serious playoff run in my opinion.

There's no real option. I like landry and his play, but it's either landry or scola, and I can't see Scola being moved over Landry.

I don't see Dorsey being a contributor this year...

Forget CV. I would be much more interested in a guy who could actually play the center spot. I would take Joe Smith or Nick Collison over CV in a heartbeat and OKC is looking to dump one of their bigs.

Unfortunately, CV does not provide size. Even though he is 6'11" on paper, he plays like 6'7" SF. Landry is way way way better than CV.

I have browsed through Bucks forum, most comments seem like the fans here describing another Rockets player. ;) To summerize in two word -- "NO HEART".
