I can't believe how many people love Vilanueva (I can't spell his name). Look at what he has done in his career so far. The guy is a chucker--an Antoine Walker type with less talents. He plays no defense at all and all he's interested in is putting up as many shots as he can. This is a player who took 307 shots in 587 minutes this season (compared to Carl Landry who took 171 shots in 598 minutes) --that's about 13 shots per 25 minutes. When you shoot that many times you'd better average 12 points per game. Plus, Vilaneuva is not a good outside shooter as some people seem to believe. He shoots under 30% from beyond the arc this year and is a career 30% 3-point shooter. That's below avearege. Ask yourself if CV's a positive for his team, why would Milwakee start Mbah a Moute (if you haven't heard this kid you are not alone) over him?

And for the Chris Mihm lovers, yes Mihm was a decent center a few years ago, but that was a few years ago. Injuries have robbed him of whatever game he had before. Now Chris Mihm is a marginal NBA talent at best. You can probably find better players than him in the D league these days. Mihm is the 12th man on the Lakers because that's what he is now -- a 12th man on an NBA team.

I do agree that Scola and Landry are similiar players and eventually you may need to trade one of them (though I think it's debateable which one should be traded). However, Charlie Vilaneuva and Chris Mihm are not the answers here.

mihm's production is actually still the same after the surgeries....same averages/stats, when he gets the minutes he did before the surgeries. The problem is he rarely gets the minutes because of the Lakers' frontcourt.

You guys need to lay off the Mihm bashing.. the only reason he does not play minutes is because of the minutes Bynum and Gasol get.. not to mention Powell who's better then Mihm is not even getting much playing time at all. Mihm is a decent center when he can get the minutes.. if the Rockets want him then they will see a good servicable center.

back up center doesnt equal savior, we're just glad to have a decent and true back up for Yao, no one expects him to save the team..

Some reason I think if you put Landry on a bad team like the Bucks, he will become the next Rudy Gay while the Roxs get Stromile Swift 2.0 (lol ok maybe not that bad.)

mihm is a third rate, third string center at best.

he's great guy, been rooting for him to succeed since his days at Texas.

he's just not what the Rockets need now, or in the future.

let's not focus on Mihm as a viable candidate to help this team

First off, I would love nothing more than to see the back of Luther Head.

There are different ways to look at the trade. Compare the players involved based on talent alone or think about who best fits the team needs.

Landry gives us hustle, but he lacks size and doesn't seem as explosive as he used to be. It is evident he worked hard to improve his jumpshot, but we were close to not being able to sign Carl. Is it worth going through that again at the end of the next contract.

Charlie V is a guy with length, who averages the same amount of board as Landry, or close enough anyway. From what has been discussed here, he lacks the hustle that Landry brings. History has shown though he can score the Basketball, but not consistantly.

So we do not lose defensive, as Landry isn't great, but we do lose hustle. We would gain size that we desperatly need and 3 point shooting.

Now, I would take Mihm over Motumbo for this reason. After this season we will be without Motumbo and back to where we started. Trying to create cap space for size we desperatly need. Deke is far superio defensivly, but Mihm is not a liability on offense compared to Motumbo.

The conclusion I have come too? It is a good thing it isn't my decision.

It takes two to sign an agreement, they can't force Deke to re-sign, Deke has to do what's best for him and that may mean no coming bac here....they need to have other options...

    Man, you were so close!

I'd be okay with this deal. Wish we could pry Joe Alexander away instead...

I think Charlie V can do better on a good team. He was great with the Raptors. But then again, I really like Landry. I think I am ok with whatever decision Morey makes.

There was talk on here earlier about Landry having NTC. Well after looking it up he does have a 1 year NTC.

    Just to clarify.

Landry got a nice midrange shot and he's way more explosive than CV.
Mihm can't compare with Deke defensively and we also need someone to dominate the paint offensively when Yao's resting.
Head is just no a nice PG, he can contribute a lot when we play fast break or need some 3 pointers.
Just sign Deke and make everybody healthy and we have a nice 12 men rotation.
