You can say all you want about how good Yao is, but he's not good during Clutch time. We have NOBODY else to go to. What are we going to do in the playoffs? Ron Artest isn't a guy that will make clutch shots, and in the playoffs most of the games will be close. I mean, I think we need somebody to go to, we don't have it, we aren't going to win anything this year if we don't have that guy. You have to have a Paul Pierce or a Kobe Bryant type player to go to for money shots. You can't rely on T-Mac to be that player, especially how he's going now.
Do you have any statistics or relevant examples to back this up?? Or are you having a knee-jerk reaction to one game.. Yao is plenty clutch.
Uhh... Look AT THE ******* GAMES WE HAVE LOST. Most of them have been close, that's all the damn stats you need. I don't know how you can't see it, You can't just keep going to a guy who doesn't make shots during crunch time. Hakeem made these shots and attracted double teams during crunch time, Yao can't attract any double teams if he can't make any shots. I don't care what it is, whether it's fatigue or him not being able to handle it, but we have to have a wing player to make clutch shots. Yao is unreliable.
i think crunch time would be so so much different if we had a pg who could hit the open jumper....like aaron brooks....i dont wanna hear anything about how he cant play the big guards because chris paul is by no means a big guard
Because Adelman always puts Tmac in when it's about clutch time. And usually that's why we get into clutch time (become behind, need to catch up).
Yao is pretty clutch this year. He just never got into a rhythm after the fourth foul on Chandler. They just ignored him.
a lot of our players are just coming back from injury i don't really expect full potential toward the end of the game. however, i do agree we should be ahead prior to the fourth to not experience the full pressure at the end.
enough with the injury excuse man. it's been like that for the past 4 years. get used to it. our best clutch player is yao no matter what u guys say. Tmac isn't even better than our bench players right now. when was the last time you see tmac clinching a game? last year he couldn't even score in the 4th quater when it matters man. yao on the other hand, almost got us the win at portland. there's no way tmac can pull off what yao has been doing lately.
This probably is the point you were going to make when you opened this... sad for you at the moment that Yao is being the only reliable player to carry the team
whether yao is a clutch player or not is tough to say. he hasn't had a lot of chances to prove it. it's not complete his fault. the way of rox made up and the way of his position limited his chance to do it. occasionally, you saw he had a last shot in a tight game, for example, the game vs trailblazers. most times, you will see the ball always in tmac hands. let's look at today's game. in the last 2-3 minutes, yao had only one possession. yes he missed. however, before missing that shot, yao had not had any active role in rox offense for about 4 minutes. most times, tmac held the ball and asked yao to screen for him. yao didn't do anything and just set up screen. of course, i don't understand why yao had to come out to screen when yao was clearly the best offensive weapon in 2nite game.
Anyone remember the 04/05 season when the Rockets would keep the ugly games close and let T-Mac take over and win it in the 4th? When was the last time that happened? Was it that game against Sacramento during the 06-07 season? Wait I think it was that game against Phoenix last season.
