One thing I just can't understand is why do refs call on plays where they don't see the whole thing? For example, when Yao is called for a foul when he is battling for the post position, do you really think that the ref saw the thing from the moment Yao battled? Aren't refs meant to only call when they see the whole sequence? So after Yao gets two unfair fouls, get has the ball, and gets fouled at least 2 times right in front of the ref. Like, only a couple of feet away. Don't tell me that the ref wasnt watching Yao, who else was he watching, the Cav cheerleaders or something?

The problem that I have refs is that they are way too inconsistent. One quarter they blow every piece of contact and backwards head motion. Then they get yelled upon by the player(s)/coach, and Ts em up. Next quarter. they are too scared and dont call anything.

Exactly, we need RA to do this. Yell the HELL out of his mind at the ref if a bad call is made. The players won't make as much an impact as the coach. Players are known to disagree with the Refs a lot, and its common. Coaches too are known to argue, but they don't get Teched up as often.

When the coaches do get Teched up, Refs will know the coach isn't happy with several calls. The Refs will usually get their head straight and only make calls they're sure of.

The coaches make the most impact when it comes to complaining. RA needs to YELL, not complain. I'd be glad if he started chucking things as well.

I'm just wondering what Yao has to do to get refereed fairly. He's not asking for super star favoritism. He's just asking for a fair objective referreeing.

The officials probably hate Yao because of his race. They know that if Yao was refereed fairly, he'd get 20+ FTs a game, and average 40 points per game. I'm serious.

Yao Ming is that good, that unstoppable. The referees have to make it hard on him.

I wonder that if Reggie Miller watched the game that he would be saying it's the worst he's seen it than even during his playing days? Can we all remember Reggie's remarks he made about referees after a game years ago when he said that you have so many young officials who come in and think that they're bigger than the league.

You've got to wonder if the refs are still out there placing bets on the games they officiate. I think that there's still a chance they might still be doing that because they think they're bigger than the league.

What concerns me most is that Stern is probably part of the scandle as well.

Stern has been doing a horrible job, making false promises to the fans. Stern has yet to make any adjustments to flopping, and we are seeing more and more of them this year. Not to mention, poor officiating reached an all time low.

Makes me wonder, why is it so hard to make flopping a little harder for players? Fines, suspensions, there are so many tools Stern could use to reduce flopping. Then I wonder again, if a referee blew the whistle on someone's flop, it's not the referee's fault, it's the player's acting job, but there is no punishment. So everyone gets away with it, it's a win-win situation for both the flopper and the referee.

Not to mention, how can anyone look at Stern's face, and say this guy respects basketball more than money? The more I looke at Stern's face, the more I think he is the mastermind behind this whole problem.

Perhaps Donaghy is NBA's first sign of downfall. The officiating this year will no doubtly erase this league of it's once glorious reputation. Like what people said, if Yao speaks out to China about his referee treatment, then Stern has a whole lot of crap on his hands to wash off.

nothing new....ive come to understand that we will continue to shafted as a franchise when the refs are involved.

1993 vs seattle game 7 (4th qtr and ot)
1994 vs utah game 4 (clock issue)
1995 vs suns game 2 (drexlers ejection)
1997 vs jazz game 6 (bear hug)
2005 vs mavs game 5 (finley)
    2007 vs jazz every game

dream used to get screwed on calls but somehow we overcame them those 2 years. ive come to expect this kind of treatment.

It's the worst. It's not because Yao got called for phantom fouls. I've seen this kind of things happened before. And actually, I kind of knew it was comming. Cavs has the biggest baby in this league. So, some homecourt advantage is predictable.
I say it's the worst because the refs jumped into the spot light and steal the show only minutes after the game started. I mean, com'on! this is not like the finals between east and west. It's just a regular season game. And Cavs are not that weak that they could've been blown out immediately if there had been no help from the refs. They could survive for at least 2 quarters I think. So why not let these two teams fight for real, for at least two quarters? But no. The ref looked didn't think so. They intervene from the first minute and make this game meaningless immediately, except for proving that the refs are the real 'king's in NBA. I had been waiting for this game for a whole week, thinking it might tell us something, like how good our team really is? But now, it's just another garbage game.

This was an abomination, I was at that game, with several Cavs fans, even they admitted that they didn't see fouls when fouls were being called and there were fouls that shouldn't have been called(like Lebron taking 3 steps after the foul, layin it up then getting the AND1.)

btw, Cleveland Cavs fans are dumb and classless, they started a mini chant near my section "go back to China" when Yao was introduced, and some explitives about Artest I can't even mention here.

Just listening to the some of the gab around me, it was obvious most of the fans there don't watch basketball, they just watch LeBron.

I also googled that Rodney Mott guy. It seemed that he is full of dough as he bought a 2000 sq feet residence at Allure Las Vegas in 2006.

    http://franksellsvegas.blogspot.com/2006/07/nba-ref-makes-slam-dunk-at-allure-las.html

This doesn't mean anything from the legal standpoint but you wonder where his $$$ comes from. :p

Wow seems like this game is a bigger controversy than we think.

We often complain about bad calls, especially when in Jazz homecourt, but if Clutch made a video on this then I think there is more to the Cavs refs than we think.

    Shameless. Purely shameless.

And you know what, they did it again in the city of cleveland - The zebras called for 2 offensive fouls on the wizards in the final minute of today's game, and handed over the win to the cavs!

I do believe the lightening could strike the same place twice now.

It'll be funny to see how they react when their "God" leaves for a glitzier, more cosmopolitan city in two years. They'll probably sell out the NYK tickets just because people would want to go boo him.

Thx, Clutch. Appreciate the work. And still cannot release my anger and just want to punch someone in the face(to the refs).

I feel, at least ,that it's the worst overall officating I've ever seen. The refs do come up with a plan on how to crush the Rockets and how to insure their dirty-laundry money although it's an assumption.

That game may not be the worst...because today, right in home court of Cavs, the Washington Wizards received treatment no better than us.

Wizards were up 7 or 8 points with 2 minutes to go. Then, 2 offensive fouls, 1 loose ball foul, one foul on Lebron when he shot a 3 pointer with on one else even near him. Number of non-calls. Fouled Jamison out right after he got a 3 ptr.

It's so fxxking funny that NBA goes in this way

This Cavs love is actually pretty surprising to me. The better the Cavs are these next two years, the less likely Lebron will leave for New York, which, to the league, is the best place for Lebron to be.
