I have some old audio cassettes I want to put on cd. Not music, just some fun audio me and some friends did many years ago. A few questions: *Audacity best for this? *What type of audio jacks do I need going into a Mac? *Will Audacity allow me to edit some of the audio out and tighten it up? Thanks.
I did research on this a few years back. You need a simple attenuating cable to transfer the music to your computer from the cassette deck. As for software, I can't really remember.
If your DVD player has a recorder, you could hook the output of your cassette player into the audio input of your DVD player.
After digging around (yes, something I probably should have done before posting here, but I wanted info from those who've used Audacity) it seems this is the way to go: http://lifehacker.com/software/mp3/alpha-geek-how-to-digitize-cassette-tapes-222394.php
I have been using Audacity for years for editing mp3s. However, I have never used it to record until you brought it up today. There is a microphone icon that you can click to monitor the input, and then you click on the red record button and that’s it. It will record any input.
