Mutombo wouldn't be shy of throwing elbows around guys like Varejao either. Notice how everyone ducks their head when even coming close to Deke.

Right now Yao's training with bucha of PFs, it's important to have a strong defensive C to match him up during practise.

Huge gamble... what are the Rockets going to do if they can't replace the 55 points Stevie gave them last all of last season?

Your right they did get more out of it. They straight up robbed us. Now if they was going to trade Francis fine i understand that its a business but to give up Francis, a high 2nd round draft pick most likely in the 30's, and cash for NOTHING then that's just plain ol crazy. I can understand if he played and wasn't fitting in with the team but he didn't play at all.

It would be fantastic if Deke elbows Varejao in the face.

The guy got beat out by Luther Head and Von Wafer. The fact that Adelman is willing to go with Head at the 3rd PG spot speaks volumes to me.

Two other benefits for having Deke:
    - Yao also has someone about his size to practice with
    - Deke is a spiritual leader of the team

Obviously yes. When we play against teams that given yao trouble like vs boozer and al jefferson which Mutumbo seem to do better versus against these low post threats. (Mutumbo did good vs boozer in last year's playoffs) Also against the likes of the Lakers that has two starting center at 7' feet... If yao gets in foul trouble in that situation, we are screwed.

Teams see the green light towards the basket whenever Yao goes out of the game. That would happen no more with Deke, even if he plays 10 mins a game.

If Deke can play like 10-12 minutes and grab 3-4 rebounds and 1 blocks each game, let SF go will be a good move. SF just can not contribute for this team anymore, 10 minutes is better than nothing

you guys are idiots...you complain about us not being athletic yet you constantly wish for ppl to be on the team that is old...I like deke and he does bring certain things that are nice but thats for 5-10 minutes of play and thats it.

STfreakUp about having him come back.

Deke will not play unless he has an impact. I wish we could have traded rafer after what will end up being his best game of the season. Well, not really, because any game that he gets more than 7 assists is better than what he does when he shoots well, which is not get our BOYZ into the game like AB does. Anyway, I have faith in Morey. This is going to be good for us, and it may not have to do with Deke whether he signs or not. Merry Xmas from Hermosa Beach, CA.

Did you see how the 7'4'' Z murdered our offence when Yao was sitting on the bench?

How about the Al Jefferson went wild in the paint and the all lanes to the hoop turned wide open without Yao's presence?

Hell yeah, we need Deke really bad.

I wonder what happened to that "Dorsey is the most NBA ready player he can contribute right away" statement.

trading Rafer means Head will be our major backup 1. That's insane.

That's true. I mean if anything he can come in, get a couple boards, blocks, miss a couple layups and reak some havoc. I'm pretty sure he'll be able to do that until he's 70.
