You're a Titans fan, right? 2002 AFC Divisional Playoff Game. Overtime. Nedney goes for the win. Need I say more? You're the guy so eager to diminish other another team's playoff success. This is me firing back. This is probably the most gutless way to a playoff game I can think of.....and you want to talk about Carson Palmer. Give me a break.
I'm a Titans fan, but I didn't actually recall this game. And I was not trying to diminish the Steeler's playoff success. They won the Super Bowl, that's great for them. Considering I think they were probably the best team in the league over the first two years of Big Ben's career, I would say they deserved it. This all started out with me making a smartass comment about them winning a game in which they knocked out the other team's best player on the first play.
I remember this game very well and I loved every minute of it. Nedney misses a fg in regulation that wouldve won the game, in OT titans march down, give nedney a 2nd chance. titans kick the fg, made it and fireworks go off, but timeout was called, so he tries again, but misses. flag was thrown for running into the kicker, 3rd times the charm, Titans win!!! the look on bill cowhers face was priceless. even funnier to watch him to get so mad about the titans now with the towel stomping. get over it, you were in the titans stadium. bring on the steelers again in the playoffs, itll be a tough game but the titans will win again, i just hope we win the 1st game. go titans
So in a game between TN and Pittsburgh....Houston football fans should root for the Steelers? Are you serious? Houstonians root for the Steelers??? That's like rooting for the Jazz. As far as the towel stomping goes....if you don't wanna see your towel get stomped on then don't bring it into another teams stadium. That's common sense. If you do that you have no right to complain. If the Steelers would have won you would have seen all of their fans waving them in folks faces. I don't see the difference. I went to game 7 of the 05 Playoffs in Dallas, wearing a T-Mac jersey, and couldn't say a damn thing when folks were yelling "Houston sucks" to me after the blowout. I'm the idiot that walked into thier stadium with another jersey, talking sh&%....
Congrats on probably the most gutless and anticlimactic win in the history of football. You can be the team that won a playoff game due to your kicker flopping -- and admittedly so. You can be the team that brags about the officials deciding the game for you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. You probably enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed seeing Nedney get hurt the next game while Oakland was busy running you guys off the field. Another Jeff Fisher classic moment.
I'm a Texans fan and I defintely would go for the Steelers in that situation... I don't think Houston and the Steelers have played a game that mattered in probaly atleast 20 years....
According to a Yahoo! Sports article Jeff Fisher didnt like the towel stomping Article Fisher calls Terrible Towel stomp ‘unnecessary’ Dec 23, 4:04 am EST NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Jeff Fisher didn’t see any of his Titans stomping their feet on Terrible Towels after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seeing the footage Monday didn’t make him happy. “This was just a couple guys playing around with a towel. It was unnecessary in my opinion,” Fisher said. Linebacker Keith Bulluck dropped a towel, then swiped his foot across it celebrating the Titans’ 31-14 rout of the Steelers on Sunday. He wasn’t alone. Running back LenDale White stomped on a towel, and defensive end Jevon Kearse used one as he pretended to blow his nose in actions replayed in video highlights over and over. Fisher defended his players, saying the Terrible Towel is just a towel to the Titans. “They don’t understand the significance or the meaning of the towel itself to the organization, the Steelers history or the Steelers fans,” he said. “On one hand, I think they were having fun and just playing with a towel. It was certainly not a shot at the organization or the players or the staff or the fans.” Rookie running back Chris Johnson pulled a flag hanging from his waist and waved it around in celebrating his 21-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that put the Titans ahead to stay. Fisher said that potentially could be a problem since the rules prohibit using a prop. The footage of those Titans stomping on the Terrible Towel will be replayed heavily if these teams meet again in the playoffs. With Tennessee seeded No. 1 in the AFC and Pittsburgh No. 2, that would only be in the AFC championship. “If we’re fortunate to see Pittsburgh again and that’s the motivation they need to play better, then that’s OK,” Fisher said. “I think by the time you get to that ball game, whenever it is, I think both teams will be highly motivated.
Icehouse - Well said. Someone that gets it. This terrible hanky is being so overblown it is not even funny. Cowher going on a 10 minute rant last week on the post game show was another joke. The guy is not associated with the Steelers any longer but he goes pro-Steelers on every single topic. So much for an unbiased view... As far as Fisher. He is a coach who would like to avoid as many potential off the field issues as necessary. Most Coachs would say the same thing. Oh well. Bring on the Steelers... We are not scared of them...
