Do you think he will even have an impact? Do you even think RA will play him? Last year before Yao went out he wasn't even in the rotation AT ALL.
he would have played probably 10 minutes against the Cavs. beyond that there is really no need. He will be on the 12 man team and play when needed.
well what about the lakers? I think that he would also play in this game for 10-15 mins... or whenever yao is in foul trouble... La's twin towers are hard to beat without using deke for a few mins.
Yes, He will be useful when Yao has to sit Mutombo would be the best defensive player on this team. There will be no more free layups when Yao is on the bench.
He'd have helped against Z and Wallace last night when Yao went out, I'll tell you that. We were rebounding weak as hell, with Scola etc getting balls slapped away from him. With Deke's elbows, i doubt that'd happen. I'm not saying he'd help us every game, or even play every game. But once every few games, he can give us some quality time. Last night was a perfect situation for him. Big slow guys to bang with, get a couple blocks, throw some bows, we might sneak out a win.
Please, Deke is about 1000 yrs old, he cannont hang with these young guys. Rockets just took a huge gamble and they might regret it.
This is a pure salary dump. The Grizzlies got more out of it,but I don't think it's a great gamble because Francis wasn't fitting with the team and might not be able to produce much for Memphis either. I will be willing to eat my hat and give you credit if I'm wrong. Deke is very old without a doubt but he still could be useful against some of slower bigs on occasions which is better than nothing at all IMO. We do need a better backup center without a doubt.
I don't much care if he comes back or not ... I'm leaning towards moving on, but I'll tell you one thing - we have Deke, & we WIN that game last night! Don't think it's a coincidence that the day after we were EXPOSED (not that it was that much of a secret) that Morey pulled the trigger. Against a bunch of scrubs, we can withstand an extended absence of Yao in foul trouble ... but not against a solid team like The Cavs. Whoever it is ... I don't care if it's a pet rock, it's STILL better than Stevie rotting on our bench.
is it your opinion that the Griz can possibly be WORSE in 2011 than they are now? Cause my guess is they will have either the best of top 3 draft pick in 2009 that we just traded for a 2011 pick where they might actually be decent (and that pick is conditional so we might not even get it)
Deke still can play man...never mind about his age. He has proven year after year. Even when he doesn't play much and when he came in...he's always ready to play. This Rockets team is lacking defense when Yao has to come out like when he's in foul trouble last night.
Deke would be useful against certain teams that have big lineups or when you gets into foul trouble like last night. So yes we certainly can use Mutombo.
