Last time, I have explained why rockets need a finisher. This Cavs game is a perfect illustration. It was not a playoff game, but it has playoff-like atmosphere. Game was decided when Yao missed last two shots and Gibson hit one 3 point. Yao lifted the game to the last moment, (in fact he is quite clutch recentely) but as big man he is hard to be very clutch. Imaging Ginobili was in the Rockets (instead of maybe Tracy?)... If Rockets cannot find a good finisher at all, Adelman should refine his last play executions. Read and react play usually wont work very well in the last moment. A lose in a regular season isn't a big deal, but a wise man won't let a same mistake repeat again and again.
I wouldn't call it play off atmosphere as Tracy was absent. If it was the playoffs, we wouldn't see that Tracy that we all saw today. Enough with the trade scenarios, it was 4 games in 5 nights, back to back.
You can find many reasons for a loss (sore knee, bad call, tight schedule...), but there is only one reason for a win
I agree. The rockets is so much better with TMac finishing the game, but tonight he was no show. Ron was not quite at that level, mainly because of slowness. Do not forget Steve Francis who was born for the task, he can attach the rim as well as anyone not named TMac in this team. IMO Francis is better because he initiates contact. Unfortunately RA does not like him.
Please 1) Look at last 5 minutes when score difference in 5 points. 2) Look at play off games or play off-like (against elite teams) games, 3) Look at more than 1 year
Rockets just need to drop that give the ball to Yao at the end of games and just watch him work. It makes the offense stagnant and it's predictable as hell. Lebron flew in from the 3 point line to block Yao's soft attempt and now it's going to be on sportscenter for days.
That block was painful to watch, still suprises me that when Yao is that close he still hasn't learn to be more aggressive with the finish.
I'm surprised how people fool themselves again and again. Let me clearly tell you who Tracy McGrady is now: McGrady is a half-season capable low defense resistance talented player.
I agree. This team needs McGrady. McGrady who is playing his game. He didn't do that in Cleveland. I am sure that if we had had him in this game, we would have won.
i agree with this, minus the ginobilli thing, tmac can finish games. he was just in a slump last night, remember he has been playing some pretty nice, unselfish basketball since returning from his 16 day hiatus. we have finishers, remember there will be nights where we just can't buy a break, from what i saw last night was one of them, bad calls, unlucky shots, it happens...remember playoff series are still 7 games, so we'll just have to beat people in 5 games instead of 4, i know, i know it hurts me to say that too, i was so eagerly awaiting the 16 game playoffs and championship this year
im saving this thread, because when tmac explodes in the post season you will eat your foot on his dining room table...the man is hurt, it happens. you can cut out his liver if he doesn't perform well in the waning moments of the regular season/post season, for all i care, but not now, not yet (gladiator quoteeeee) seriously though, give it a break we're not trading him, we shouldn't trade him, we have so much talent, sooo much to be thankful for, let me remind you (i know some ass is going to say something like "washed up" but here it goes) we have: Stevie Franchise (no longer the franchise, but possibly, later in the season a player who in desperate times can give us a spark, unlikely, but still it's nice to have him back) barry (the man won a dunk contest and he's white, nuff said...not enough said, with a healthy hand he's deadly when it counts! still jon is my favorite of the barrys) ron artest (he puts his heart into every game, sure he makes some bonehead plays sometimes, but who doesn't? i tell myself for every dumb shot he makes, he has to make up for it with a great defensive play, o what do you know? he usually comes out on top) shane battier (mr. corner 3 pointer haha, plus he can slow down the kobe's of the league) then you've got YAO and TMAC (we all know they are sick with talent) those are some nasty veterans to have on one roster, give them some more time to gel and we could be singing Queen by the end of the season (im sick in bed so i have nothing better to do than sneeze and rant about my beloved Rockets, sry)
I heartily wish this team to win in the payoff. But I sure you with Tracy as the finisher in the crunch time, this team has no chance to beat elite teams. Facts: No matter what stats Tracy puts, his shooting percentage and turnover rates are much worse when the opponent tightened the defense. Seven first-round exits are not just coincidence.
Tell me this, switch their places, do you think Manu would have done better with those Magic teams and even our past Rockets team (consider Yao missing all those games)? How well do you think the Spurs would have done with T-Mac coming off the bench? The answer tells you who is the better player. Give T-Mac the Spurs squad and they win more titles than they have now. Give Manu those Magics or those Rocket teams and they never even sniff the playoffs. Manu ain't leading the Rockets to the playoffs with Yao missing so much and he damn sure wouldn't have helped us to come back from the dead and get 22 straight wins.
LeBron James was only 1-6 or a number similar to that in the 4th quarter. That was LEBRON James. THE LeBron James. When you are playing against a good defensive team even LeBron won't be able to get his points easy.
1. Of course, Manu would have done better than Tracy. Can you find another so-called super star had seven first round exits? 2. T-Mac coming off the bench? Spurs would have done worse. As I told you, T-Mac is so talented who can collect stats in anytime other than crunch time.
Good question, as I metioned last time, In all fighting, the direct force may be used for joining battle, but unexpected force will be needed in order to secure victory. This is Yin and Yang. The Cavs does not have a dominant big man, so LeBron James is the direct force (same as Yao). When the opponent pays full attention on him, they relis on others to finish a game. They also did not complete the championship formular, so they are not likely win the championship this year.
what we need is an efficient scorer. yao is efficient the first 30 mins of the game then he wilts in crunch time. aaron brooks is our best scorer.
