I am curious. Was it because he flew so much during the olympics? That what I always thought, but i am not sure.

I heard he contracted the disease from his pain medication. Apparently it has some side effects which cause your kidney's to fail. Half the league is on the same medication as well.

Yeah, I remember that too, getsmartnow. I remember everyone on Sportscenter and in the NBA getting in a tizzy because Shaq was on the medication, and they were so worried that LA would lose their one way ticket to the finals every year.

Why do you think flying has any effect on the kidneys? If it did, then surely the transplant waiting list is stocked with people in aviation careers.

P.S. Algebra is NOT useless or worthless...we would be talking smack over smoke signals if it wasn't for higher mathematics. :p

Shaq to has admitted he has some damage to kidney and liver as well as a result of the anti inflamatory meds they take

Zo and Shaq are two of many who will suffer this.:(

Zo like Shaq are both warriors and hopefuly with proper treatment it can be won.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but there has been no negative press about this situation. It is tragic surely, but I heard that this was related to steroid use and use of supplements.
