Looks like a 1-year deal, and he'll split time with Geoff Bum. The Wiggy thing makes sense now since he's a lot cheaper.

Astros sign third baseman Aaron Boone

The Astros acquired the other half of their expected third-base platoon Thursday afternoon when free agent Aaron Boone agreed to a one-year deal, according to MLB.com. The contract will be completed when he passes a physical.

He's expected to share the job with Geoff Blum, at least until minor leaguer Chris Johnson is ready for the big leagues. He's 35 years old and played in 104 games for the Washington Nationals last season, hitting .241 with six home runs and 28 runs batted in.

He's an 11-year veteran who spent the first seven years of his career with the Cincinnati Reds. He has also played for the Yankees, Indians, and Marlins.

This wasn't thread worthy at all, lol. Should have left it at the bottom of the Astros offseason thread where the worthless signing by Uncle Cheapie belongs. Sigh.

How does it make sense? Blum and Boone are both pathetic career utility men. That's NOT a combination for success and that's not even close to being equal to Wigginton.

What a joke. This offseason has been nothing short of deplorable.

You'd think they'd have gotten more done by now. I mean, spring training is next week. :p

Look at it this way: this marks the second time this decade that the 'stros sign a guy with WS-winning RBI. :D

Seriously, when it comes to the Astros NOW, Houston fans NEED to strt to act like Philly fans. This mis-management of a franchise you people love is just down right sad.

If you as an Astros fan are upset with the direction of your BELOVED team, its time you voice your displeasure, LOUD and CLEAR enough to where it creates a negative spotlight on the national stage. Then, lets see how Drayton responds. Either he upgrades the team to appease the masses (and the revenue stream) or he sells.

Either way, Houston sports fans cannot be silent ANYMORE or else this franchise becomes the Pirates.....

It would be better if the fans just didn't show up to games at all. The only message Drayton will understand is falling revenues.

Yeah, that $100 million payroll is just like the Pirates!! :D

I'm not happy with the Aaron Boone signing either, but let's not completely lose perspective.
