Three games into his return to the floor after 2½ weeks spent strengthening his sore left knee, Tracy McGrady acknowledged he does not have the jumping ability and quickness that had been so much a part of his game. He was just as certain, however, that the old abilities will return. “I think I will be myself, without a doubt,” McGrady said. “Right now, I’m not that explosive. In due time, I’ll be that way. “The pain I was feeling those first 15 (games) and the pain now, there’s not even any comparison.” McGrady missed seven games and has missed 83 in his five seasons with the Rockets. But even with the injuries spreading throughout the roster, McGrady was as confident in the Rockets’ chances as in his own ability to fully recover. “Every year I’ve been here it seems that way,” McGrady said. “We need Holy Water or something on top of this place. It’s crazy.” http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6168619.html
This Rockets team with the old T-Mac would be unstoppable. I really hope that he recovers fully for the playoffs.
Or maybe he just needs to hire a new fitness trainer, and the rox need to fire Keith Jones and the entire medical staff and pirate the doctors in detroit It's nice to hear Tmac is feeling less pain now than before. So much for following the doctor's advice and playing to strengthen the leg, right DD?
yeah right, mac 100% i doubt it, but if he is, look out. we gonna own the west. artest being our 6th man...
Hmm...sorry...I still think T-Mac is a great player with a very high Basketball IQ, but honestly after 4+years, anything T-Mac says about his health, mindset, mood I take with a HUGE grain of salt....I trust in the doctors way more than anything T-Mac says.
Glad to hear that McGrady is feeling confident about himself. More than anything, Tracy needs to feel "good" mentally to compete through the injuries. Cod
He is close, really close. He is running without any pain. Now he needs to get his explosivness and jumping back.
Absolutely what he said is what we expect him of. But it already took so long for us to wait the Old Mac back. Hope this season he could fully recover from the multiple surgeries.
Is that what you need? Is that what you need, T-Mac? Seriously, just say the word. Say the word, and I'll show up with a vial of holy water on Friday. I'm not joking. This is not a joke; I'm serious. I'm Catholic; I will bottle some holy water and bring it to Toyota Center. I will sprinkle it on the seats behind the backboard to bless your depth perception. If you really, really think holy water will help, I will bring it to you. Yes, I know he was making a joke.
he'll never be 100% (that's just simply unrealistic). but if he can return to the form he was when he started the year LAST YEAR when he was clearly a top 5 player for the first 2 weeks of the season, we should be scary. and he can play that way if he doesn't encounter anymore injuries. and the rest of the team too. please, i'm praying.
had he kept playing, the pain would go away much slower, and his confidence in the knee would still be in the gutter. confidence is something doctors cannot restore. it's something from within. the rest was much needed. i'm glad tmac took that route.
I guess we will never know, huh? Confidence is most assuradly the key.....I am glad they got the 2nd opinion, I just wish they got it BEFORE the season started. DD
Well that comes down to defining 100%. To me, he was pretty much 100% the start of last year, where he played just as good as anyone else in the league, until the bug bit him. Now, if he can just play without pain, without something bothering him. Then I think that can be considered a 100%. Here's to hope Artest stepped on the injury bug on the way out of his house.
