This concerns me more than anything. We are all thanking the heavens that our defense has been playing better lately. However, I remember WAY too many times against Green Bay and against Tennessee where our secondary was burned badly deep and the QB just overthrew the receiver. I would venture to say that the majority of QBs in the league will make that throw the majority of the time. Some of our weaknesses are still there, they just haven't been exploited here lately. Thankfully, neither Chicago nor Oakland have an extroidenary passing attack, so I still feel pretty optimistic about a 9-7 finish.
Dunta will be back here next year b/c he'll either sign a long-term contract or the franchise tag will placed on him.
I'm not saying our defense doesn't need massive improvement. I'm saying that you can't overlook our red zone problems. The reason QB's are missing those wide open receivers isn't just good luck, it's because we are FINALLY getting pressure on the QB. Frankly, our defense has done a good job covering up our pathetic red zone offense during this streak. Getting TD's instead of FG's in the red zone would put less pressure on the defense as the game goes along.
Aaron Rodgers is in "the majority" who can make that throw. Shoot, even Jamarcus can hit the deep ball.. and Orton definitely has shown it a lot this year. If the secondary gets through the next 2 weeks *somewhat* unscathed, I'll say that A) everyone gets burned sometimes, so you'll always see some of those plays that are either hits or misses and B) maybe the pass rush over these last few games is impacting the ability of the QB to make that throw (whether due to pressure on that play or due to pressure throughout the game forcing the QB to make a faster release)
With a positive turnover ratio in the first half of the season, they are a playoff team this year. But year to year you never know, turnovers, injuries, schedules and matchups are what make the many 'on any given Sunday' bubble teams into winners and losers. All I ask is that they are competitive and fun to watch and the offense is certainly that.
They just announced Andre and Mario as starters for the Probowl! Slaton got snubbed..they took Ronnie Brown over him
I'm not really surprised about Slaton not making it. Ronnie Brown did all of his damage early in the year and caught everyone's attention with him being the backbone behind the "wildcat offense". Slaton should have a good shot next year. BTW, Terrell Davis just mentioned that Slaton is his #1 snub on the AFC roster.
yeah, ronnie brown is a complete mystery to me - he's averaging nearly a yard less per carry. daniels, too, i think got screwed. gates and dallas clark have both put together solid seasons, but daniels has 7 more catches than gates (3 fewer than clark); is averaging more yards per catch than both; and is second to gates in 1st down % - 65% of his catches went for 1st downs; gates is 1st with 66%. he trails both in TDs, but that's not necessarily something he has control over. you could make a pretty decent case for daniels over gates (though colt fans could make a pretty decent case for clark over daniels). regardless, it shouldn't be gates over either of those two.
I think the pro-bowl TE should be Gonzo and Clark. Clark over Daniels because of more catches and TDs. I dont think yards per catch carries much weight here. Gates making it over Clark? Thats BS. I dont see the logic in that at all. Daniels should be first alternate, had Clark made it. The Brown selection over Slaton is completely baffling to me. I mean, wow. Slaton has a much nicer yards/rush average. Slaton has 300 yards rushing more than Brown. Slaton has nearly TWICE as many receptions. I guess someone could attempt to make the argument that Brown has more TDs...but Brown has 10 total TDs and Slaton has 9. Keep in mind, however, that Brown got 40% of his TDs and 14% of his rushing yards in that one game against NE. You take a look at Slaton's numbers and you will see someone that has been much more consistent...and much better. Slaton > Brown
I see the Texans winning 10-12 games next year. They get the soft NFC west. should be 4 wins there They get the AFC East. Should be 2 wins They get the Browns and the Raiders. 2 more wins 6 division games. should be at least 3 wins
