Commodity stocks == volatility heaven (although potentially huge profits). After having a brief, rough adventure with AA, I'm deciding to stick with ETFs instead.
FCX is definitely on the potential list, but it's run up quite a bit recently... AA not so much. RIO may be another one. NUE, if it would ever come back is another one. The sector may be driven by the dollar rolling over. I just can't decide whether to pull the trigger now or not because I don't know if there will be a sell-off at the end of the year because it could be a painful sell-off if you're caught in it. I also wouldn't mind looking at more boring stocks like T or VZ with relatively high yields and sitting on them for a bit. I'm also hoping GS gets massacred when it announces earnings - if it does, I'll probably consider buying some of that, too.
I've actually been mulling going long UYM again. Seems to have established good support at $13.83. The expected dollar correction and commodities boost could send it to the $20s. But right now I'm content to sit on DXO, especially with the dollar continuing to look beautifully bearish at the moment. The honeymoon may not last long, but it should last long enough to yield a healthy profit.
I have inherited about 5,000 shares of Exxon stock. I live in another country. The stocks came from grandmother and was set up in a trust after she died in 1997. I inherited my share of these stocks when my grandfather died earlier this year. Can anyone walk me through the process of selling stocks and the tax issue?
pretty sure it is going to be long term capital gains but you need to consult a tax guy to make sure. and don't spend it all in one place
If you have a TX residence address, I can assist you in depositing and selling out the shares....email me at Silverman326@gmail.com

Yeah...although I'm surprised at how fast it dropped, I'm not surprised it did. It should find support on the 50 day MA.
With unemployment projected to hit 10%, I don't think there is anything opec will be able to do anything to save oil.
They can cut production, but it seems unlikely that their members and Russia will actually follow the cuts when the economy is hitting them just as hard.
LOL. Sorry buddy, no can do. But, I can assist you with your investment needs as well if you wish. Let me know how to reach you, if interested.
winner! anyone long oil now and expecting a major bounce is fighting the massive downtrend of economies worldwide. i just saw this headline from dow jones and i lol'd
