I sent an email to leaguepass@nba.com earlier asking for an extension of their LeaguePass Broadband service to Hong Kong and just received their reply yesterday.

    Here's the reply:

I went to the link http://ilp.nba.com/ and found that they have a very handy pull down menu for global fans to submit request of their service. So my fellow Clutchfans in Mainland China and Hong Kong, please let the League Pass team know your request, submit your email addresses to them via the link above. Please also forward the link to your friends who love basketball games too. Let them know there exists a legitimate market of their service in China and Hong Kong. Thank you.

The above link is applicable to all non US NBA fans so other oversea Clutchfans and submit your requests too.

    各位中國及香港的 Clutchfans,

p.s. I know this post belongs to other forum but I hope the Moderator bear with me for once this time since I believe the majority of Clutchfans in China and Hong Kong seldom visit NBA Dish or Hangout. The Chinese part of this post is very much the same as what I said in English here. If you want a copy of the email to prove for legitimacy, I am happy to comply. My apology for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your tolerance.

Thanks freemaniam for your reminder. I sent them the request once I read your post. But I wonder would the League Pass be free of charge as it's extended to HK and China?

Fortunately streaming links of Rockets game are still available in atdhe, justinTV, channelsurfing or sopcast. It would be nice to have more alternatives though.

vcchlw, it will not be free but I do not think it will be more expensive than the charges you paid for the sports channels in Hong Kong like CableTV and NowTV (talking about for a whole season, 6 months).

Moreover, you can watch the game at your convenient time since you know most of us are either at work or at school during the game time.

The video quality in League Pass Broadband is way better than those you have seen from atdhe and justin TV. If you have seen some of those mms links provided by a poster here last season, you will know what I mean.

Thanks for sending your request btw.

I live in Belgium and ordered League Pass Broadband USA, I don't even have access to the International one normally. Right now I'm in Bangkok and it's working fine, all you have to do is go through a USA proxy server, even the planetlab/codeen servers work.

    :D

Don't be fooled by this NBA PR shiat. If they can sell you some NBA stuff without infringing on local merchants including local HK TV broadcasters, they will do it and you don't have to beg them. They want to make money from you, but I suspect they can't right now.

Also the LP BB's quality is shaky sometimes in the US. I am not too thrilled with the service for $90 they are providing. So internationally, the quality may be even worse, and they can't sell that with a straight face probably. They are probably busy fending off unsatisfied US customers like me right now.

I don't think it'll be infringing upon the HONG KONG NBA provider's rights, as they are mostly broadcasting ESPN, NBATV, and TNT games anyways, which are blocked in HK. Plus, in league pass, they can blackout selected games at their choices anyways.

I think the problem with NBA League PAss is that they have to set up servers in Hong kOng in order to make the service/streaming stable.

So by all means, guys, please help us Hong Kong fans by voting on the link so that they will increase the speed of making LP available in HK.

    Thanks freemanian for the info!
