In a way I think he wanted to have a ring before he retires. Not to prove himself but to serve as an achievement.

Negative. No one is as bad as Chuck. At least Deke can dunk.

As for what he brings.....is that a serious question? He brings size and gives us a great, not good, shotblocker and rebounder. Having him would allow us to keep Yao's minutes around thirty as well.

Bottom line is he's an effective player for what's asked of him for a realstic price.

Don't you want someone not undersized in there besides Yao?

I agree with some of what u say, but hayes is the biggest offensive liablity in the league. At least deke will dnk the ball, rebound and blk shots. I agree about the cba guy which is puzzling to me. I watched Jelani Mccoy in the preseason and I thought he would be a good 16 min backup, but the gm has said he doesn't care about size before so why would he start now?

If the Rockets aren't making Mutombo a priority, you gotta think Morey's got another trade in the works, hopefully a long-term solution to the frontcourt size problem.

i certainly hope that is the case. but to achieve this takes a lot of work, and luck.

will deke not returning to huston force morey to find another better long-term solution?

The guy in the clipps uni would be cool. It will cost the team scola and filler, but people can't tell me camby next to yao wouldn't be really, really good.

hopefully morey finds a way to get deke so we can solver our size issue this year.. if the c's get him we will struggle to beat them next month.

well if deke is not a high priority at least attempt to get him back so far no attempt has been made...

what trades could morey pull off? short term? long term?

    Good luck deke.

Have no problem seeing deke doing to celts, as i cant see any rotation minutes for deke at rox. He may be healthy, but his good for 10 minutes and thats it. Well on a good day, maybe 15 minutes. On back to backs? His as good as bench warmer.

Would you seriously want to put out a C/PF combo of scola/deke, landry/deke or hayes/deke over the current combos of landry/hayes and yao/anyone?

Deke get's own the same way Yao does in the high post defensively. He's 42 , he can't guard shooting center well. He doesn't even make the effort to get a hand in there face. And of course no hustle and not to say well get own by speedy center or pf if other team choose to play small ball.

Why hasnt ANY GM in the league this year thought Jelani Mccoy would be a 16 min backup?

Marcus Camby makes $8 mil, Scola $3 mil. What kind of filler are we talking about here, Artest?

I wouldnt be mad with a Jelani Mccoy type actually, but to bash people's credibility cuz they didnt look to bring in a 10 year career journeyman CBA player that nobody wanted just doesnt seem right either.

I don't blame him if he wants to leave. He wants to play and when he was signed the last 2 years here with us he only played when Yao went down. Coach obviously doesn't play him. JVG played him but not RA. That is sad. I respect RA but i still believe the Rockets should have went after Rick Carlisle at the time. I think he would have been a better fit for the rockets. But good luck Deke where ever you go

would the griz, thunder, and 76ers quit the season as early as the end of the year? these teams all have some interesting bigs we can certainly use.

maybe i am thinking too much, and the chances are rather minute.

is it just me or morey is not really so high on deke? otherwise we'd have signed him already. there's absolutely no need to first dump salaries before we sign deke. the salary dump can always be done after the signing. we shall see.

to me personally, i like deke as a player and a person very much. always have since his denver heydays. but not to bring him back at this stage won't be a big deal imo. we can seek other longer term solutions.

Shroopy- I'm talking Scola, head, and hayes or barry. As far as mccoy, sometimes gm's outsmart themselves like mikki moore. He was out the league also, then nets gave him a chance and he performed. Look at chris anderson who's playing 16 mins and getting 5pts 5.6 rebs and 2.5 blks. He was sitting there and no one gave him a minimum contract except denver. Didn't he fit the script of what we were looking for?

I don't think Deke is our answer, we need a younger athletic big with a little more offense. I hope he does sign with the Celtics, he deserves a ring, and they are his best shot outside of us.
