    This from the Foxsports site.

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan -- After stalling a four-team, 13-player deal on Monday, the Detroit Pistons today made a much smaller trade of their own, acquiring forward Billy Owens from the Milwaukee Bucks for point guard Lindsey Hunter.

Detroit was not interested in the seven marginal players it would have received in the blockbuster deal that was supposed to send New York center Patrick Ewing to Seattle for Vin Baker.

Forward Christian Laettner was supposed to move from Detroit to the Los Angeles Lakers in that deal and today the Pistons fortified their frontline by adding Owens, a nine-year veteran with career averages of 11.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

The 31-year-old Owens has played for Golden State, Miami, Sacramento and Seattle and was dealt to Milwaukee by the Warriors in a three-team deal that involved the Cleveland Cavaliers on June 27. The well-traveled veteran is going to his seventh team in nine seasons.

In 61 games for the Warriors last season, Owens averaged 6.0 points and 4.8 boards. He was the third pick in the 1991 draft after starring at Syracuse and had his best season in 1992-93, averaging 16.5 points per game for the Warriors.

The 6-2 Hunter was the Pistons' starting point guard last season and has spent each of his seven seasons in Detroit. Drafted 10th overall in the 1993 draft, the 29-year-old Hunter will likely play behind starting Bucks playmaker Sam Cassell. He averaged 8.3 points but just 1.7 assists last season.

Both the Pistons and Bucks were eliminated in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs last season.

Actually Chucky Atkins is. He was promised the Pistons starting PG job and is signed for 6 years, so Atkins, not Cleaves, is the PG of the future for Detroit.

Who was the backup for Cassell? I think Hunter will add more depth for the Bucks, DAMN!!! I wanted them to do bad so that we can get a higher pick.
