Good trade for Golden State if it happens.

What?! Why would the Raptors do that? Maggette is obviously poison.

A Biedrins (sp?)/Bargniani duo is intriguing, though--those guys' skill sets would complement each other nicely.

And do the Raptors hope Wright evens things out? I think everyone's written him off--he's just another tweener, nothing special. If you can't average double figures in Don Nelson's offense, esp. since the dude isn't even trying to win but rather develop players, you have serious issues. The Raptors have a history of stockpiling big name college players who can't make it big in the NBA. Look at Joey Graham.

Sounds good for Golden State, bad for Toronto. Colangelo is smarter than that.

Agreed. Bargnani and Kapono are great for Nelly ball because they can shoot it. Moon is an athlete.

    Once they get healthy...

    Biedrins | Turiaf
    Bargnani | Randolph | Graham | Kurz
    Jackson | Kapono | Moon
    Crawford | Morrow | Azubuike
    Ellis | Williams

(or something like that). They're not playoff bound this year, but it's a good move for their future.

No he's not, not if he gets on a team that is disciplined on offense. He shoots a lot in Golden St. but the whole team takes a lot of bad shots.

This just in...the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors have agreed to a trade in principal in which the Warriors would send Corey Maggette, Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli, and D-League scrub Richard Hendrix to Toronto in exchange for Andrea Bargnani, Jason Kapono, Jamario Moon, Joey Graham, and a 2009 second round pick...

This comes via text message from a high level Exec who works for one of the two teams...expect the trade to be announced on Dec 15th when Maggette, who was signed as a FA over the summer by the Warriors, can officially be traded...when the trade happen, I will reveal my source once and for all...

    great trade for warriors.
bargnani-get a big man that can step out to the 3, and rebound
kapono-can light it up from 3..their favorite
moon-can run the floor, rebound, finish alleyoops
graham-startin to step up with more playing time recently
    2nd round pick

raptors, the only thing i see them getting is a good third option
maggette-can create his own shots, run wit caledron..just take bad shots at times, as seen by crawfords reactions in games
wright-doin alright..brings more defense to the team
belinelli-dont think he will do much for them
    hendrix-chunk duece

I wish I had posted back when the GSW signed Maggette that it would simply be a rental, that signing Maggette was only a way to have great trade bait. I honestly don't think they ever really wanted him for their team. But it might just turn out well for them, especially if Colangelo is this desperate to shake up his team in order to keep Bosh, who will leave in 2010 anyway.

Just read the rest of the entries from that blog. It seems that the Warriors are also poised to get Dirk and AK47...

It's more than that. He's been dogging it, playing with a bad attitude and padding his stats--but other than that, he's just what Toronto needs!

Okay there is no way this rumor is true. The Raptors don't even have the draft pick in question.

I don't see why this is a bad deal for Toronto. Those players they gave up suck except Kapono, who does exactly what he's supposed to do -- for what that's worth.

Maggette will put up monster numbers with Calderon setting the table and feeding him. Belinelli can conceivably replace Kapono and the jury is still out there on Brandan Wright.

Look at it this way: if you combined Kapono & Bargnani's production you have about an average year for Maggette. Not only that but you're talking $11-12M in salary vs. $8M. Don't get me wrong, I know Maggette is a bit of a black hole. All i'm saying is he's always made fair market value for the type of numbers he produces. In this case it's no different.

There's no way Toronto would take Maggette's 5 year 50 million contract or whatever it was.

This deal could only work if he was expiring this season or in 2010.

Absolutely terrible trade for my Warriors. You're giving up a lot of solid young talent in Wright, Beli, and Hendrix to get rid of Maggette's albatross of a contract and for some extra soft white bread.

I agree, I like Maggette in Toronto. It gives them a big 3 lite. Bargnani has been putting up numbers this year though, I haven't seen him play but he has improved tremendously. About the same player as Al Harrington though... I never liked Moon much but he does fit in GS.

    Good trade for both teams.

The Raptors gets what they have been lacking for a while, a decent wing player. We'll miss Kapono's 3 pointers but we just can't wait for Bargnani to develop into what Colengelo thinks he'll be in the future...we have to win now before 2010 comes. Graham and Moon are expendable.

Problem with Maggette is that he's injury prone and he likes to jack up shots.

I like the deal for the Raptors, although Maggette is on a terrible contract Bellinelli and B Wright are two very solid NBA prospects. Those two players push the deal forward. Had it been some scrubs in addition to Maggette, no way Toronto does it.

    Completely agree.

The Raptors don't give up any major peice, and they receive back a major offensive slasher in Maggette (he's getting 8.4 free throw attempts per game this year - right in line with what he always does...).

The Raptors offense can get a bit stagnant, and Maggette is a guy who can genuinely create his own shot - I've got no doubt he can defer to Bosh too.

They give up Bargnani - who is frustrating them with mere glimpses all the time - but is replaced by B Wright, who is also a talented but underacheiving big man. And Kapono - who is effectively replaced by Bellinelli.

Their major loss would be Jamario Moon, but one would think they could afford to give Moon and to receive Maggette. It would make their team a lot more well rounded IMHO.

I think it works for the Warriors too - the give up a few of their swingmen to bring back a 'Nelli big' in Bargnani - and Moon in an uptempo offense would do all that Pietrus did last year and more!

Interesting trade if it goes through
