CFB as a whole has turned into a joke ever since the BCS. Only way to get those bigshots from the conferences reassessing themselves is by catching them where it hurts the most, their pocketbooks. Stop watching the games, stop buying merchandise, etc.

Don't have a problem with Bradford winning. That being said, the Heisman winner was determined by a defensive back that couldn't hold on to the ball.

Why does every thread have to turn into Longhorns crying? Things happen in life that we don't like, so what, it friggin happened, get over it. Bradford won, good for him. Now let's see UT go undefeated next year with all their top recruiting like they're supposed to.

No kidding. For anyone to say Bradford wasn't deserving must only follow one team. And I love how everyone likes to complain that his stats were padded by running the score up as if he played every minute of every game.

Because if you don't raise hell about it and complain, the likelihood of it happening again goes up drastically. Remember back in 2004 and 2005, when there were three teams each year (USC/OU/Auburn, USC/UT/Va Tech) undefeated and in championship contention, and how voters essentially gave USC a pass and didn't even debate their merits to be in the games? There are numerous other examples, that's just the first that comes to mind.

How did it happen? Because they absolutely raised bloody hell over their BCS snub in 2003, to the point where everyone remembered it and it led to them always getting the benefit of the doubt. It's the same principle as working officials in basketball — you get them subconsciously thinking they owe you, and it absolutely influences the future. Is it annoying? Probably. But it usually works.

Yes, things happen in life that we don't like. The first question after something like that should be what can we do to make it less likely to happen again.

I'm glad Bradford won it over Tebow. I think you could make strong cases for Colt and Bradford, but not Tebow. He didn't have the numbers of the other two, and all three had leadership qualities - but Tebow's leadership didn't do much good at home vs. a good-but-not-great Ole Miss team. The other two at least lost to legit top-10 teams. So if you go with numbers, Tebow is 3rd. If you go with leadership, Tebow is 3rd. Bradford and Colt were a coin flip, with Bradford having better numbers but having better skill position talent around him, and also winning a conference title, but losing head-to-head.

Absolutely. It's an shame how the supposed most prestigious individual award in sports has essentially been changed to a regular season championship trophy. No, Bradford isn't 12-1, and for the record, neither are Colt and Tebow. Bradford's team — including one of the best offensive lines in college football history, an absolute freak at TE, and loads of NFL prospects at RB and WR — is 12-1. The Heisman has gone from rewarding the best player to essentially crowning the player with the best luck in his situation. As long as there's a dominant team (there wasn't in 2007) at No. 1, you can basically pick whoever its most hyped skill position player was before the season and they will win it.

Bradford absolutely is deserving. He's a great player. The problem is that if Blake Gideon holds a point-blank interception, McCoy is there and wins in a landslide. That's the microcosm of the problem. If Gideon had held that ball, does that somehow mean Colt was a better QB? Of course not. We're talking about a defensive play that neither McCoy nor Bradford had anything to do with. But in the ESPN-hyped world, that's how it goes.

Again, folks, this is supposed to be an individual award. And I don't think there's a person on the planet that denies Colt would've won it, had Gideon held that pick. So, this vaunted individual award was decided by a drive, and more specifically, a play, in which neither McCoy nor Bradford were on the field or had anything to do with. Something's wrong there.

^ absolutely true. I have no vested interest in any of the three quarterbacks they all had solid cases for winning the heisman this year. but the heisman is a pointless award now...Harrell wasnt even invited and most of the time its always about the best team and not the best player. heck charlie ward won it and he didnt go on to play football. eric crouch won it and he is bagging groceries now in nebraska

i feel real bad for Gideon right now, imagine knowing that you lost your teams chances are at a NC and Colt the heisman because you dropped a gimme interception.
