http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Tracy_McGradyrsquos_Road_to_-292943-34.html Rockets.com did an interview conducted by JF to the Rox's Strength and conditioning man. Dave Macha about the conditioning of Tracy Macgrady. Read up. Topics covered- The extend of the injury. Reasoning behind the break.
Everything I've seen tells me he should have waited the rest of December. I don't care if that means we barely stay in the race till the end of the month. This just doesn't make sense if he needs to play poorly to get his conditioning back. We will loose games for him to get in shape, and people who could have gotten minutes won't.
hey look, tmac works hard...it sucks that that is surprising to some people. and finally, some legit info instead of rampant speculation. appreciate it.
Take that haters. ......actually I feel pretty bad about myself. Even though I gave him a benefit of a doubt, in the back of my head I thought that maybe he isn't working hard enough or his knee doesn't seem "too bad" to warrant resting out two weeks. But its evident now that still hasn't recovered from the surgery and that it wasn't a simple knee "pain" like everyone assumed it was. He really did want to come back to help him team through the early tough schedule. What do you say now DD? (Oh but that doesn't mean you can just shoot jumpers all day Tmac)
great article. good to hear all of this from the guy in charge of all the rehab, good to hear that he WAS rehabbing hard early on, but just got too worn down to do much.
He was one assist shy of a triple double and he was perfect from the line. Oh and he drove in a lot. Only settled for jumpers at the end when the game was over.
if artest was playing, i think he would rest tillt he end of december. by then, he would be REALLY healthy. but he can't afford that luxury. he saw what happened in memphis and say, if i don't play, we might be below .500 when i get back and this is supposed to be our easiest month
First, Rockets.com is a team website, it is not going to be unbiased journalism like the Chronicle. Second, he said exactly what we have been talking about that he was not in shape to start the season (Fatigue makes cowards of us all) and was lacking confidence. I am glad he is getting a good rehab going, I would have liked for him to come into camp with that behind him. But whatever, he is getting there, and the main thing is confidence, he has to believe he won't injure it any more. I hope he can now get his wind back because he is still a tad overweight, and not as explosive that will come as he sheds the pounds and gets to running on the basketball court. DD
Hahaha are you serious? Do you ever see the good in any situation? Mcgrady looked amazing for a guy whose career was supposedly over. He looks like he's in mid season form as far as strength and conditioning goes, and that's really impressive for a guy who has been in and out until now. His rest cost us what? like one game? That one game wont matter at all come playoff time when were going for a title.
That is true. With the except of the Memphis game, the team has taken care of business. Without a doubt Tracy's health is the main concern as we need the team to be peaking in April(and June) rather than in December.
Its a small sample size but Tmac's shooting looks to be improved this season. 82 percent from the FT line and 42 percent from behind the arc. Nice.
Are you kidding me? He never looked like his career was over to me, it looked like he was chubby, and out of shape, and got winded to easily. Then you top it off with babying his knee, and he looked worse. That was entirely my point, he needed to get IN SHAPE to discover the old Tmac...and...JUST LIKE I SAID...he had his time off, and still needs to get IN basketball shape. He could have been doing this all along, even though he was struggling he was helping the team, he is by far our best passer. That is exactly why I wanted him to play through it, because the confidence will not come until he just GOES for it....and that still has to happen. It is funny, you criticize a player, and people make leaps of logic about what it is you are saying...... Tmac still needs to get in shape, but while he is doing that, he is helping the team win...I am glad he is back.... DD
TMac played more minutes than anybody except Rafer last night. It's interesting that he attacked the basket a lot. And at the end, when the game had been decided, they just cleared out for him to do ISO. (I was mad that they were not trying to give TMac the last assist for the trip-doub.) It looked like they just gave the time to TMac to practice a bit more.
One assist shy of a triple double last nightl. Imposing his will on the game by attacking the basket ie.(good things happen when he drives to the hole), incredible passing and strong rebounding. All this while being slightly overweight and with very little if any explosion. He is young at 29yrs of age and its evident he is still a man amongst boys on the court. If he can string together a couple of more games like last night, I think he will finally get his confidence back.
he tried to get it 3 times but rafer missed 2 wide open 3s and yao missed a dunk. so he's like, forget it. i think the isos at the end were just to see "am i there?" yet. those types of plays were plays a healthy tracy mcgrady can make with ease. those jumpers near the end were flat and hit the front of the rim (though they looked straight). so he's getting there. and he's regaining confidence. if artest was healthy, i still prefer him to rest another week just so he comes back with ZERO pain/soreness. but he looks good.
It looks as if he was trying to get his rhythm and confidence back, the game was already decided so let him fire away.
