Shocking! I'd heard he wanted to play in Canada someday, but why now? We have tournaments scheduled. That's the backbone of the team gone for what?

Seems like all they wanted was the money... Hope that $150k goes a long way.

Or FO is too smart.....there's more to this here then what we see on the surface. Either....

A.) The Dynamo are rebuilding on the fly and this will alow them to sign a few young talents to restock this aging roster

    or

B.) There is a major DP signing comin our way. Most likely at forward...

    or

    C.) Both A & B

Either way, Holden will see more playing time, which he deserved. Best of luck to DeRo and thanks for the memories.

Wow wasn't expecting that, sad to see him go he was the best player on our time by far imo. Wish him the best though, still shocked by it though if we don't make some moves before the season starts this will be twice as bad as it is now for the fan base here.

Wow, I'm a little surprised, but I think I may have called this not too long ago. Toronto was looking for an impact player and they goat a local hero. The rumors have been that Dwayne would return to Toronto since the moment the team was launched.

As others have said, the front office better have something up their sleeves. Sure the team was embarrassed by New York in the playoffs, but we were the number one team in the Western Conference. Stuart Holden is deserving of playing time and who knows what they think of Geoff Cameron. I don't belive Kei Kamara is an answer at forward. Couple this with the loss of Nate Jaqua to Seattle and we're now very, very thin up front.

    Get it done, Ollie.

What the? I guess it's big news, DeRo is arguably the biggest Canadian international they've had.

This helps them hold onto Stu as most of his contemporaries are earning higher wages in MLS and he has been receiving offers from Europe-England. Now he gets the reins.

Also it gives them space for a DPlayer spot and extra cap space around 200k to make some shrewd signings.

No worries I trust in the Dynamo F.O.

I remember reading earlier DeRo's dream was to play for Toronto one day as a Canadian. Damn... I'm going to miss him.

methinks it's some type of pro sports team in Houston that's made it past the 1st round of the playoffs sometime this decade. I'm not too sure.

Hey guys im a huge dynamo fan but know little about posistions. For one ive been watching consistently for three seasons and will disagree and say Mr. CLUTCH(Ching) is the best player on the team. I believe the team likes what they see from Clarke and Ashe who I think both have great potential. Obviously the team likes what they see from James in order to do this trade . It does make you wonder though that management gave up on the Ching/DeRosario combo. They were definently capable of a few more championship runs.

I think it was probably a combination of things. Perhaps deference to Dwayne, who wants to play some meaningful ball in Toronto before he retires and/or as others have mentioned, to clear up some cap space. Ricardo Clarke is on the US Mens National Team, so his ability is pretty clear and he's a critical part of the team. I think Ashe will be a good sub in the MLS, but he's not capable of reaching top-tier rank like Ching and DeRo. His size is his undoing, but make no doubt, he's one of my favorite players on the Orange.

Ching is clutch, no doubt, but he fed off of DeRo so much and was on the receiving end of a lot of beautiful balls from Dwayne. I also worry about his fragility and his ability to do it by himself. Granted, Holden will have to step up now, which he's more than capable of doing.

I don't think that we'll make a run at a DP for the 2009 season, rather I think we'll try some of the plug moves that have worked in the past: adding players like Nate Jaqua, Kei Kamara, from other teams. I admittedly know little about Julius James as I have not watched much TFC, apart from their trips to Robertson. I hope he pans out as a dependable player on the Dynamo, but we'll wait and see.
