Pippen drew two technical fouls when he tried to punch Van Exel with 2:11 to play in the fourth quarter. Pippen said he talked with league officials Wednesday and told them that his outburst was in retaliation for getting hit in the groin on the previous play. "I doubt I'll get suspended," Pippen said. "I didn't do anything to get suspended." Yeah right. I guess those guys in the league office told you they wouldn't suspend you and then busted out laughing as soon as they hung up the phone.
Thank God it was only one game...I'd hate it if we didn't have one final chance to boo him this season. Pippen swung at Van Exel with 2:11 remaining in Portland's 108-96 loss to the Mavericks on April 9. Pippen was to miss the Trail Blazers' game in Memphis on Thursday night.
Judging by the looks of the punch as I saw it on the replay, it might have been enough to swat a mosquito if the blow had landed. It was truly a weak ass punch if there ever was one.
