With Artest out and with Don Nelson probably still smarting about that loss, I'm putting it at a solid 2.5.

It wouldn't surprise me if Rockets shooters go cold that Don Nelson would go to a Box+1, with the box on Yao and the one guy running around the front lol.

Seriously though, I hope Wafer, Head, Rafer, Brooks and especially Scolandry have huge games. They're gonna need to command some respect from Golden State and knock down some open shots because I have a feeling they're gonna get plenty.

I do see a box-1 but Scola will kill them coming of rolls and don't forget Battier from the perimeter. Landry, Scola at the same time on the court maybe?

    1st team
    Rafer
    Von
    Battier
    Scola
    Yao

    2nd
    Brooks
    Head
    (depending on who's fresh)
    Landry
    Hayes

Lots of defenders coming Yao's way. Nelson saw his whole front line get fouled out last game--i think we'll see One fronting (nelson likes this defense, and al harrington was pretty successful with it for him before he got traded), one behind--at a minimum.

The high post jumper (for scola or landry) and the weakside rotation 3 (for battier) or weakside post up (again for scola or landry) is gonna be there all day.

Every defensive move has its countermove. When teams front Yao, they have to sink players from the weakside/off the power forward to guard the lob pass over the top.

We have to respond with ball movement--and QUICK ball movement. We can't just stare at Yao while he bangs for position. If he's fronted, and the lob is contested by a weak-side defender, MOVE THE BALL, either around the perimeter or to to our PF at the top of the key. If Yao ducks in to the middle as we work it around, hit him. If not, look for an open 3 or jumper, or use the recovering weakside D to create driving opportunities/ get better post position for Scola and landry.

We do this occasionally...we did it coming back against memphis, but then we went away from it. We were too slow and too deliberate, and Yao wasn't working hard enough to make the lob option more credible.

Even if Yao never touches the ball, when teams front ( and cover their front with helpside D), he can create offense for us by getting the defense out of position. Share the ball, and share it QUICKLY, and we will be able to beat fronting defenses. If the ball sticks to one side, our offense will stagnate and fail.

Yao needs stand like 2 ft away from the 3pt line and get a pass. He gets doubled team and have a slasher like VOn Wafer cut and get his pass for an easy dunk. The Key is not to have Yao clogg the paint so he can pass it.

Why would they double him out there? He hasn't shown that he can consistently shoot from outside of 15 feet. And it's not like he's going to drive to the basket.
