I probably won't buy this one, because of the cost (I'll just wait till I visit my dad!)... but if you like reading about baseball, then Bill James is as good as it gets. Here's a review from Rob Neyer (yeah, I know most of you probably read ESPN.com, but I also know many of you hate Neyer)... but don't dismiss James if you dislike Neyer, simply because James is his mentor. Bill James, more than any other "sabermetrician," writes with a love for the game that few others can compare with. I personally think most of his theories make perfect sense, and represent the best ways for evaluating baseball. No, I don't watch baseball for "stats," but I do think stats represent the best way to evaluate production. And reading Bill James is perhaps the best way to see this. Besides, his favorite player is Craig Biggio . http://espn.go.com/mlb/columns/neyer_rob/42798.html
