No kidding. The sprain he suffered aggravated the injury. Shane Battier said Artest's ankle was grossly swollen just a few days ago. The swelling and micro-tears from the sprain will heal with rest. I know the torn ligament will not heal with rest but it's obvious he can play with the injury if the rest of the ankle is healthy. If a month from now the doctors are saying Ron's ankle is as good as it was before the spain and that he needs to play for it to get stronger but he refuses then you will finally have apples to apples argument you think you already have. I'm glad he's rehabbing. I'm also glad you finally admit that the pain of pushing through the healing process is what caused him to quit playing despite two different doctors assuring him that playing would be beneficial to his knee. If you can find a doctor that says Ron needs to play through the ankle sprain in order for it to heal then I'm an idiot and you're the man. Thanks for the advice.
Really because the guy on the other thread who does these type of procedures for a living says you do 50% of the time.
I corrected my statement about "quitting" but you knew what I meant. Playing semantics is a great way to avoid the subject. I think we all know that Tmac plays up injuries, exaggerates them and has been known to take nights off "just in case." And now thanks to a few of you we are reminded that Ron can be a bit of a headcase, a loose cannon and an aspiring rapper. We also know there are countless quotes from current and former NBA players (including Michael Jordan and Larry Bird) talking about Ron's toughness on the court and his competitive nature. Shane Battier was just ranting about Ron's work ethic the other day. Nowhere in the thread title did I see questions about who is the better teammate or who is the best locker room guy between Tmac and Ron.
Tmac isn't 100%. Undisputed. Tmac is catching crap because he is soft. Soft in that he settles for jumpers, rather than drive. Soft in that he doesn't play defense. Soft in that whenever he is less than 100 percent, he lets the whole world know about it. Tmac is catching crap because he should have gone through the painful rehab of busting up the scar tissue in the offseason. Tmac is catching crap because of all of the above, he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt on toughness issues. He could help the team on the court just by playing 20 minutes a game. Let's see, 20 minutes of Tmac at 35% is vastly superior to Luther head at any level. Tmac is catching crap for taking weeks off because he has a history of playing soft and being soft. Artest is hurt. That's undisputed. Artest is the opposite of Tmac in toughness. He's a lunatic, but is universally regarded as tough. He defends with toughness. He's as physical a player there is in the league. He rebounds. He plays with attitude. He attacks the basket. Artest has a history of injury or missing games. That's fact. But he's not catching crap for missing the next 2 games because there's no reason to believe that he is missing the games because he is a p***y. He needs the rest for his ankle.
why should artest get a ticker? ron IS injured and has been playing on that very injury for almost a month. mcgrady is NOT injured and chose to rest on his own terms. only those mcgrady fans who almost see him as bball god can't see the difference.
After you have surgery, you need to rehab that part of your body. T-Mac's knee has not rehabed properly, it has not fully recovered from surgery. That has been having a negative effect on his play and on the team. So he has rested for a week and will be doing rehab for this week and the final week of his 3 weeks away. I ask you this question. If he was soft, why did he play through November?
I "finally" admit? Throughout this thread I've been trying to point out the sheer hypocrisy of criticizing T-Mac for sitting out because of pain and simultaneously giving Ron Artest a pass for sitting out because of pain, but obviously you haven't even been reading. Well, glad I "finally" got your attention on that one.
Man it's so useless to debate with people that has been criticizing tmac constantly over and over. It's not like you're going to change their minds. It's like people trying to convince me that Yao isn't overrated.
Go back and read again. The doctors said Ron playing wouldn't make his ankle worse. TMac playing will get better BECAUSE he needs to rebuild the strength of the knee. That does NOT mean that playing is the ONLY way to rebuild the strength. I guess reading comprehension can be thrown out of the window when you hate a player so much and love another player so much.
he played through november, supposedly in pain. i gave him credit for that. but now with both barry and artest out (or plays on injury), this team needs him to play, so he should do that again instead of resting. but this is besides the point. my question is - for a minor surgery that usually takes much much shorter period of time to completely heal, why is it taking him over half a year? what did he this whole summer?
I don't think the Rox and their fans should be bothered by any ticker of any organization because it does not help the team in improving its performance. The coaching staff should only give PT to players who performed with heart and intensity on the court and bench those who failed to do so (irrespective of their status) in a consistent manner. In this manner, all players could base on one standard to upgrade the team's ability to beat other teams. I hate to see another 1st round exit in the playoffs.
makes sense.. i don't trust doctors anyway.. when yao went down with the ankle/foot injury this year didn't they suggest surgery at first and then agreed that rest was all he needed?
Why would team doctors want T-Mac to play on it to strengthen it? -I would say so they can have him out on the court, and sell more tickets. We all know T-Mac in the game makes it more enjoyable. If he feels pain, why should he have to play? -Because he gets paid too much, would be the obvious answer. However, how many of you go to work if you have the sniffles or have a sharp pain in your knee? I am sure most of you will call in sick, I know I would. As Rockets fans you would think to support the team and all its players. I mean after all you are fans. or Are you guys a bunch of "hipocrticizers" ?
technically, he had an elbow sprain. any type of sprain involves torn ligaments. in tracy's case, he had "partially" torn ligaments that weren't major. but you don't call a sprain without any tearing.
So if I have the same surgery and I don't play sports do I have to play professional basketball to strengthen it? What I heard he have to keep rehabbing the knee because once you have a weak ligament there stuff that form around so you have to keep working that knee to break that and do in so it create paint. The doctor will never say you have to play organize basketball to rehab. You can do it in the gym like most ppl do.
like in ron's case, tmac can't hurt his knee by playing on it. but there's pain associated with it when he does play in real NBA games. so why not rehab it by himself. strengthen up that knee until there's little pain left. and then play.
Supposedly? This is what ****s me about people like you, 'so-called fans'. Why would a NBA player, who has never had the talent around him like he has this year, play as if he was hurt? If you want to waste time dicussing what he did over the summer fine, do that. However we are talking about what is best for him now. See I do not believe a player should be using the early part of the season to rehab a injury. The responsible thing to do is go rehab an injury away frm the court. We need healthy players on the court winning games, not unfit players using part of our 82 season to rehab. The only reason Tracy played the start of the season was because Battier was out and we had a tough schedule. He didn't play to help his knee, he did it to help the team.
