http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/p...n=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=6.1.1 HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets forward Ron Artest will not make the team's road trip to the west coast where they play Golden State Friday night and the L.A. Clippers Saturday according to his agent David Bauman. Artest revealed Wednesday that an MRI on his sore right ankle showed two torn ligaments, but that doctors had told him he could play as long as he could tolerate the pain. "It is my understanding Ron is going to be held out of the road trip because his ankle is really swollen (Thursday)," Bauman said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "He'll miss the next two games and be ready to play at home against Denver, giving him seven days off. That's the plan." In Wednesday's win over Atlanta Artest played 39 minutes, scoring 19 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Artest said before the game doctors have told him he cannot do any further damage to his right ankle while he plays. Rockets trainer Keith Jones said Wednesday night they will continue to treat the injury and rest him when the can. "I have told Ron to play when he feels he can go," Bauman said. "We are not concerned with the MRI. It shows the normal wear and tear. "The seven days rest should be what he needs to play again." Ugh...
*Prays Camby trips up Randolph in practice, both out for the Rox game* *Prays the other Randolph dunks on Yao 5 times and calls him a chigga*
are people going to bash artest like they bashed tmac for sitting even though the doctors say he won't make it worse? just bc you won't make it worse, doesn't mean you should be playing when you're in too much pain.
So, I'm not a big Tracy hater, but this is pretty nuts. Ron has been playing through two torn ligaments, and Tracy has been sitting because his knee is sore. Kind of nuts if you ask me.
Even if we lose both games its not like anybody in the division is running away with first place. Rather have these injuries now hopefully it balances out and everyone is healthy for the second half.
this is getting ridiculous, i cant wait till we can get some cap space and sign someone that can play every game. it gets extremely annoying to be paying so many people to play only to have half of them sit on the bench the whole time. I really like artest, but we cant afford to have 2 superstars sitting the bench so much. Ide like to see a total amount of money we are spending this season to have people sit on the bench, i bet its more than landry or scolas salary, possibly even combined. i wonder if this is factored into moneyball?
Calm down guys, there's no need for panic...yet. This isn't near as bad as Yao's ankle was, and like the article states - Artest will be able to continue playing on it, and the MRI shows normal wear and tear. I tore ligaments in my ankle back in high school, was misdiagnosed with a sprain and went on to play 3 years before having a MRI done to show I had previously torn it. Now I feel like my pain tolerance is quite high....but we're talking about Ron Artest. He'll be fine, don't start running for the exit yet guys.
This isn't a decision made by Artest, its been made by his agent and doctors because it became too swollen after the last game. Artest even said in the post-game interview that he would wait for T-Mac to get back to take a game or two off, IF he even did that. The argument you make is not rational.
Why would anyone bash Artest? He is playing through pain and deserves his rest! Tmac just can't be stuffed.
well crap i was hoping to wear my artest jersey saturday at the clipper game. boy no tmac, no barry, no artest against the warriors and clippers. my undefeated regular season attendance streak will be put to test on saturday. maybe wear my francis jersey on sat instead?
