    That's right. He had time to invent a life-like robot, but not enough to find a real woman to spend time with. Women are high maintenance!

    As for the Fembot striking him for touching her, maybe the ai is already kicking in, and she has developed that response on her own out of repetition of the event caused by "I can build a girl but I can't get one to date me" guy. Imagine the disappointment when even your own robot learns to turn you down and resorts to violent defenses.
