Just another instance of Yao getting abused by opposing centers with more body mass such as Gasol and Milicic. He can't get into rhythm when the people guarding him weigh just as much as he does and push him around.
Yes i believe that if either Tmac or Artest are going to be out Yao should preparehim self more and get into rhythm that way he can slow down when both are on the court and take up the burden when their not.
maybe not enough time to get into a rythym. When playing games back to back, he already starts to catch a rythym.
Yeah, Adelman's strategy against Grizzlies is not well prepared. He didnt foresee Grizzlies would let their to centers together on the floor.
Yes, traditionally you'd think that one reason Yao Ming had such a pitiful performance was because the Grizzlies had a lot of length and athletecism, but then again Yao Ming thrashed the warriors, and with Biedrins, Wright and Anthony Randolph I'd pit that front court's length and athletecism against anyone. I think the problem is all mental. Yao Ming is so passive and so slow normally that you need someone to set him on fire during the game. When we had JVG he was one who motivates Yao Ming every game, but now it only happens when we have a terrible loss or if someone talks smack to him (i.e. Anthony Randolph). My guess is the days off cool out Yao Ming's adrenaline rush from whatever it is that inspired him, so he always starts the game with a pitiful performance once again. Look for him to bounce back the next game.
It's simple: Marc Gasol & Darko Milicic = 2 good, tough and motivated defenders. Yao can't perform against defenses of this level. We've seen it. He can't, simple. Assume it. We depend of T-Macs level in playoffs.
Sorry to disappoint, but I'm no longer charting Yao's touches. It was starting to become a little bothersome to not be able to just watch the game as usual. I also stopped getting significant, thoughtful feedback, so I assumed there wasn't much demand anymore.
Yao looks like a rookie out there. Remember when he first came into the league? He would hold the ball low and forever. Very non-aggressive. Stood around alot. Had a good game every once and awhile. Well, he is back. Bang him around a bit and his night is over. If he is hurt, then sit; otherwise, play like you mean it.
he's not hurt (or at least common sense says no). he just came off 2 dominant games, got 2+ days of rest, he should be fine. but if you follow yao long enough, you know he has these types of games once or twice every 10 games or so. he has like 5-6 of these types of games this year. sometimes he just overthinks and he said it in the game recap and do what you said he usually does. it's a bad habit that still hinders him from being consistently great. and that's why i don't think we can build around him. but he's a very very good player. the thing i don't like is how they question yao's effort. although i am a tracy fan, unlike him, yao does give effort all the time. yao may not be as talented as tracy to put in little effort and still play well, but yao works hard. give the guy some slack please.
Just because he's not in a gym doesn't mean he's resting.....he' married and spends a lot of time on the road....wife must be missin him. What...that isn't rest....you get quite the abdominal work out. Gettin married has had a net effect of -7ppg.
Isn't Yao supposed to be skipping practices so that he can play more minutes in games? If that's still the case, it may explain the rust after the extra off-days. And if the end result is a healthier Yao in the playoffs, we may have to accept a few bad games from the big fella during the regular season.
