Watching the Lakers game today and seeing them with the retro jerseys reminded me that next season is the Rocket's 35th anniversary. I think it would be cool if they would wear the old green and gold jerseys for the home opener of the 2002 season. I'm sure Steve and Cat would lobby to wear them for the whole season considering they always call the current jerseys pajamas. What do you guys think?
Thats a great idea, but i dont want the green. Bring back the red and gold baby! Remember how classy those colors looked on Cuttino at the Allstar Game? Hell yes. I'd like to see 'em in the first Houston ones too, those that had the goofy astronaut on 'em. Ah nostalgia. Probably won't happen though, sadly.
This old f*** watched those good old games back then. Half those guys have become announcers: Calvin, Barnett and the guy who does Laker games. Also we had some tiny 6'4" first round draft choice from KY named Riley who couldn't play much. I think maybe he became a coach, but not sure Dallas Rocket
Actually, those old MLPS jerseys looked cool in a UCLA sort of way. As for the old Red-and-Gold of the Rocks,.... (SIGH). Never really wanted to see them go in the first place, maybe the 'new' jerseys will bring back the legacy.
My understanding is that when the new arena is completed for the 04 season, we should have brand new jerseys. Since next year is the last one in the Compaq "Summit," the team should celebrate it's history during the whole year. They could wear the green and gold for the opener and and the red and gold for the the last game of the season.
I think that would be cool too....but.....i doubt les alexander would ever approve of that sh**......I still wish we were yellow and red....The Summit....I know you feel me.......
I think our old jersey's were ugly but the new ones are hideous. So given the choice I would go with the lesser of the two evils but both are ugly in my opinion. I don't know the yellow just makes the jersey too Mickie Dee's looking.
What about the logo? Should we go the way of the Lakers, Heat, Raptors, Mavs and Pistons and use those Nike jerseys and just put a smaller version of the logo on the shorts with the current lettering accross the chest or should we go for something completely new? I heard the reason they changed the colors to blue was because nobody wanted to buy the red and yellow jerseys they didn't match with casual clothing. I'm just rambling on I guess, but I think the new road colors should be red.
I don't know if thats the reason but thats why I didn't like them. I mean I had an ET and Dream jersey but I wouldn't wear them unless I was out of town and wanted to represent. I think there should be no logo on the jersey, just on the hats or shorts. What team has their logo on the jersey and still looks good? Hey Les keep it simple this time, ok.
