With only 17 games so far, I think they've played the least out of all NBA team. They've had the easiest schedule for sure. Its unfair... Just look at their schedule. Their early january schedule is alil tough but after that, man they barely play any back to back, and when they do, its against easy to mediocre teams.
I don't understand what's unfair about it. If their schedule is easy now, it will be harder later on. We're both in the same division, so we play essentially the same schedule. Seems fair to me.
Seems like every season the teams that Stern wants to promote (ie. Lakers, Hornets) are very conveniently gifted an easy cupcake start by the schedule-makers.
It's all about momentum. Lakers stay with cupcake schedules early on so they can gather a ****load of momentum. Seems like they wanted Hornets to do the same.
I personally like a tough early schedule. We'll lose games and be placed under the radar. Like last year, our schedule in the spring (especially Februrary) is much easier, and we can win out that month again. Great momentum for the playoffs.
Unfortunately,Hornets let schedules makers down so far into the season. They just 11-6 right now and their upcoming opponent is mediocre Charlotte Bobcats. They only have 1 back-to-back in the upcoming games.
Yeah, these back to backs are against very mediocre teams: - San Antonio on the second night of a back to back - Orlando/Houston back to back - @Portland/@Denver back to back - @Lakers/@Utah back to back (after two days rest following the previous) - @Cleveland/@Detroit - @San Antonio on the second night - @Lakers/@Utah again - Dallas/Houston That actually sounds pretty tough to me.
i'm guessing they'll still play the same 82 games everyone else will play in the same timeframe everyone else will play them. like durvasa said, if it's easier now, it'll be harder later on. easy start to build your record early or easy finish to be rolling going into the playoffs? i would say about the only thing that could really be unfair is a team getting way more/fewer back-to-backs than another team.
The only real effect that type of schedule has is on fantasy teams. I have Chris Paul in a head to head league and he only had 2 games for the week. If he played the usual 3 or 4, I probably would have won another category or two
