where's my "GUILTY or NOT GUILTY" poll? How can you possibly not ask us for help about making this and other important decisions? Ugh. Ummm... I guess we'll get one if they pick you?
I asked an HPD officer one time if there was a way of getting out of jury duty and he said to me "take the letter you get and throw it in the trash". Since it is not certified they have no way of knowing for sure you recieved it. But that is if you do not want to do your civil duty. I don't recommend.
Seconded... and pick up either a piece of the buttercake or a slice of the yellow cake with chocolate icing for dessert.
Sweet talk the lady who signs your paper for work. I can usually get her to put the time leaving as a couple of hours after the time we actually leave - thereby essentially giving me the rest of the day off. Of course, that's just because I am incredibly charming.
Obviously it's important to do your civic duty, but if a person kinda wanted to skirt the system, here's what I recommend. 1. Call and reschedule to the Friday right before a Monday holiday. 2. Show up on Friday morning...and usually wait about 20 mins. 3. Go home Apparently judges tend to favor 4 day holidays.
Try to get picked. All my crappy jury duty experiences are when I didn't get picked. I've enjoyed the cases I sat for.
"Well, you've already wasted this much of my day..." I've never been picked, I would like to do it once.
lucked out and was done by 11:30. Rode the metro death rail back and forth for and hour, then subjected myself to more torture. Renewing my license at the DPS. I may try to squeeze in a trip to the galleria around 5pm. Or watch paint dry. Edit. Also I managed to have JUST enough good vision to pass the vision test. Pretty sure I guessed a few. 6 years ago I didn't even need glasses.
Never even received a jury summons. Now that I am finishing law school, even if I got one I would probably never get to serve on one.
