My entire focus during the first half of the Dallas game was the play of point guard Francis. . . . . A one word description: pathetic! No distribution. No ball movement. Totally one-on-one ****. WildArkieBoy
Yep. Mav announcers were saying so. "rocket guards have tunnel vision." That includes Steve. Of course, he was getting to the rack at will, he just needs to make his layups and free throws. Maybe a true PG may do this team some good. Then again, ANdre Miller may not fit Rudy's offense.
Man I get tired of this same old song. Francis plays one on one because Rudy's offense dictates that he do that. I'm sure Francis would love to get a shot off a baseline screen, or hit a guy going to the basket on a backdoor cut, but he can't because we refuse to do it.
Is it Rudy? Is it Francis? Is it the supporting cast? Frankly, I think it's a combination of the 3. Something has to change. Everybody needs to be involved to a certain degree. Good passing means a higher shooting percentage and it's more work for the defense.
man, we don't need our point-guard hitting clutch shots and getting to the basket at will. not to mention the un-dying amount of hustle. why can't he pass it to d-to-the-l langhi more often? i tihnk dallas would give up avery for him. now that's a true point guard.
WildArkieBoy. What can you say about Francis 4th quarter and overtime play? He took over. Final statline: 20 pts, 7 assists, 4 rebounds. Is that pathetic?
I think it's 2 things: 1) Francis is the best scorer in the team. If there was a real PG, the ball would go to Francis most of the time anyway. 2) I don't know much about coaching, but it seems Rudy's system is simple and limited. It should be diversified with different plays, more screens, backdoor cuts. Francis is a capable passer, but he's the 1st option, and the other options are limited.
I think Jack McCallum take on Francis from cnnsi.com when who would he rather have as his point Steve or Baron Davis Its kinda off the point a lil bit but i still found the comments interesting and i didn't want to start a new thread
that is a great quote, it sums up exactly what i feel about steve. there is no substitute for talent and you don't trade a guy, with unlimited amounts of it, just because he's coming off an injury plagued season in his THIRD year.
I was reading the subject line again, and thought about it.... Since we already have a PG, maybe we need a Point-Forward? You know who I'm talking about...
