Its the holiday season, and I'm getting bogged down in all the "Tmac/Artest/Rafer sucks" threads. Here are a few good things happening to Houston: 1. Last year Tmac "shutting it down" marked the run for the Rockets that eventually put us in 4th place. We went 2-2 to end the 2007 year and followed that up with the best record in 2008. I predict Tmac shutting it down this season could have a similar effect this season to the team. 2. Still in 3rd place, 1st in the division despite crappy play from our starters 3. Our December schedule is cake. I obviously am not completely pleased with the performance from the Rockets overall, but considering that last year we started the season 17-17 and in 10th place. To be 11-7 right now is pretty nice.
We did start better than last year but we wouldn't have that high seed if it wasn't for 22 game winning streak. God that had been amazing. No need to panic, everybody will step up when they're needed, last year team clicked on all cylinders when it was around All Star break. Then Yao injury and the rest is history. For me the best thing that could be done this year is BE HEALTHY and for God's sake please past the first round once in my fan span carrer.
Yea, I'm trying not to rely on the "well, we got the 4th seed starting 17-17" argument too much for that very reason. Although realistically if we "go on a run" this season around that time that 22 game win streak could be something like 20-2, 19-3. Which is a realistic W-L record for 22 games for a team that is hot. You also have to consider that after that 22 game win streak I think our record was 18-9 to end the season. I mean ****... we're almost on pace to make that as bad as we are playing right now.
I always think the MVP of the 22 winning streak was Battier. Since Battier is back, I believe we will be ok.
Eh... I've been on and off about how good Battier is to our team. We havn't really gotten burned by too many swingmen because of Artest's defense. Its not like 3 point shooting is an issue. Maybe just another defender in general will help us out while Tmac is out I suppose.
If battier plays well for next 3 weeks, I believe Rockets will be fine. But I am not sure if T-Mac can come back strong after 3 week's rest.
The reality is this. We are not playing a good enouhg level of Basketball yet. However we are in a good position considering that. My expectations for the start the first half of the season, and you can look up my posts, was we would be over .500 by the All Star Break, and then start to make our run. Alot of people here expected to be strong out of the gates and to win 60 games with the first seed. So because of teh high expectations, everyone is taking it out on the team.
O.T. The gas price is down to $1.75 here in San Diego. I don't know why I still can not be positive. It is hard these days.
if ur talking about staying positive dont use any of the last damm 13 (or however long its been) of First round exits as Signs of positivity
I don't plan on it. I don't mind someone using the "we havn't gotten out of the first round" excuse for why we shouldn't be positive as long as they also don't also use the "well, for a team with such high expectations you are 11-7" excuse. Because one kind of contradicts the other. If us not making out of the first round is a diss, then its not really important that we are starting slow because the playoffs is the only thing that matters right? I don't buy into the "first round jinx" or w/e the hell its called. There have been 3 different coaches, a bunch of different players, different GMs. And besides, there are tons of teams that are far worse than us, so just to be in the playoffs with a shot at winning the series every year is something. Its better than being a Clippers team that might make the first round once in a decade... they win 1 series, but they were also the reason the playoff seeding rules were changed.
That would be every other thread on this forum. Of course its not titled "we need to stay negative", but it might as well be.
