but he has turned them down because he "feels that he is quality depth". what do you guys/girls think?
It depends. If he turned them down because he didn't like what they had to offer (which I think is most likely the case), then fine. But if he turned them down by simply not listening, then it's a big mistake.
As Mace Windu or Yoda would say: "I agree." (i.e., One of them says, "There's a Sith Lord somewhere in the galaxy but I would never guess that he's right under our noses even though we're supposedly the most powerful and wise Jedi that have ever lived; now where's my paycheck?" And the other responds, "I agree.") I think it translates to, "While Tracy's taking his sweet time getting back on the court I can't trade Luther because we (sigh) NEED him, so hopefully Luther will help his and our cause during these three weeks by playing well and not jack me over on the trade front by playing like crap, causing other GMs to rescind their offers."
Luther's value to the Rockets has undeniably gone up with T-Mac's injuries. And he wants other teams to know that, so they make better offers.
other teams dont need to worry about that it matters if THEY are in dire need not us we also got barry and wafer to fill those shoes
Sounds good to me. That's probably what other teams are offering, but Brent and Tmac are injured thereby forcing us to keep Luther.
Anybody think that Morey plays mind games with people through the media? Remember right before we signed Francis he told everyone that it would be a longshot to get him? Seems like he is always throwing people curveballs... Maybe he is just saying that lots of people are calling about Luther so more people will start calling about Luther to get in on him or maybe he is saying this because he is trying to get better offers from the people that have already made offers?
QFT Luther isn't the albatross around the Rockets neck that some of you seem to think. He's not a superstar, but he is a good player. Much like during the off season Morey isn't going to just give away our players for chump change.
I think he is more valuable to us, then what we could get on the market. I'd assume teams are offering a 2nd round pick.
You know, I still like Wafer more. Ok, Luther pretty much can play well during regular season. I can't argue with that. Now withot McGrady we should keep him for those 3 weeks. If we had Barry...But damn we doesn't have him. So my opinion is, if you get a quality offer that trade him in a heartbeat.
This is why Morey is the GM and you're not. You have a "sell low" kind of mindset, and you don't appreciate the basic tenets of negotiating, and probably would make a pretty bad businessman. Morey needs to drive up Luther's value so that if a trade does materialize, it will be one that nets the Rockets maximum value in return, not one that merely serves the purpose of dumping him like most people around here want to. That's how you turn Bobby Jackson and a low first round pick into Ron Artest, and that's how you turn Vassilis "I want my mommy" Spanoulis into Luis Scola.
for a player that can score 20 when hot, its worth more than a 2nd round pick in Morey's eye. For us however, we be happy that his gone.
