Tmac out 3 weeks isnt that bad for the team

Denver and ATL are the only playoff teams we play the next 3 weeks. both havent been to the 2nd round in a while like us too.

It wont be easy winning these games but the november schedule is always the toughest for houston and they came out w/ 11-7, 1st in division. Dont need to win every single game, specially in november, specially with the team we have.

With december being easier we dont need every player on the court. Corse it'd be better w/ tmac but our team is better now w/ depth and of corse Ron. Now we dont need tmac every game. Ron is struggling but hes getting used to playing w/ yao clogging up the lane, and playing off the ball, stand still shooter. w/ tmac gone he can get into the system better.

Yao stepping up is a must. No tmac means Monster Yao Time. Got really soft this season, that should go away.

rafer, shane, ron, scola, yao should be able to get things done. get to use luthers 3pt shot w/ tmac gone, and w/ barrys old ass gone too von wafers gonna get some good PT, also a good shooter. More pt for landy too :) .

Also, since its gonna be harder to win these games, they will be more entertaining to watch. Maybe a few 4 quarter battles, or overtime games.

HOUSTON ROCKETS HAVE TO STEP THE **** UP THE NEXT 3 WEEKS! golden state w/ jamal, clips w/ zbo...wont be easy at all, but grab that popcorn cuz its gon' be a show.

Looks like either T-Mac or the Rockets' medical staff is putting their own spin on the truth about the knee.

Make that three weeks, says McGrady
Knee’s rehabilitation will take longer than Rockets anticipated
By FRAN BLINEBURY Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle

At least the uncertainty concerning Tracy McGrady’s injury is over. Maybe.

McGrady said he will be out of the Rockets’ lineup for another three weeks as he works on rehabilitating his sore left knee, which underwent arthroscopic surgery on May 6 and has been a problem all season.

“Probably about three weeks,” McGrady said following Tuesday’s workout on the Toyota Center practice court. “Obviously, I came back a little bit too early. My knee is still healing, and it’s not ready.”

McGrady’s pronouncement that he would be on the shelf for most of December was a mild surprise to Rockets coaches and officials.

After the 6-8 guard was evaluated by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday, the team released a statement saying Andrews had confirmed the initial medical assessment of Rockets team physician Dr. Tom Clanton that McGrady is suffering from general soreness in his left knee related to his continuing rehabilitation from offseason surgery.

The statement said McGrady would continue his current rehab program designed to alleviate the discomfort in his knee, would likely miss a week, and would continue to have his playing time restricted upon his return in order to lessen the stress on the injured knee.

“That wasn’t said,” McGrady said, shaking his head. “That wasn’t said as something I could play through at all. So my word is I have to rehab. I have to rehab for a couple of weeks, and I have to gradually work my way into practice, and we’ll go from there. But right now, I won’t be playing for a couple of weeks.”

Rockets coach Rick Adelman tried joking about his injury-plagued team, which, in addition to McGrady, has already had Yao Ming, Shane Battier and Brent Barry sidelined for portions of the infant season.

“Let me ask you: Who do I have tomorrow?” Adelman cracked to reporters. “It’s kind of been a never-ending story this year with guys in and out.”

Adelman did not want to be drawn into a debate between the statements by McGrady and the medical staff.

“I wasn’t involved in the statement that they put out,” Adelman said. “All I is know is when he does go on the court, he’s got to be able to push himself and go through it. And if he can’t do that, then it’s best for him not to play until he feels comfortable doing that.

“It’s how he feels, what the medical people say, and obviously they feel he needs to rehabilitate it a little bit more and see how he is when he comes back. Whichever gets him on the court and makes him healthier is what we need to do.”

McGrady has missed the Rockets’ last three games and is scoring just 15.6 points per contest, his lowest average since his 1999-2000 season in Toronto. The Rockets have lost two out of three games since McGrady last played Nov. 24 at Miami.

“I don’t really worry about having guys out as much as I look forward to us having our whole team, all the guys playing and we get a chance to roll,” Rockets forward Ron Artest said. “I think the only way we’re going to win is to have everybody.

“I’ll just play the way I’ve been playing and do the same things. Tracy hasn’t been with us the past three games. He sat out preseason and a couple games before.”

Battier, who missed 15 of the first 18 games following ankle surgery, said knowing McGrady will be out for a stretch is better than wondering day to day.

“You can move on,” Battier said. “We know the guys in this locker room with the uniform on are going to be the guys battling. Some of the sweetest wins you have as a team are when you’re facing adversity and everyone sort of counts you out.”

McGrady, whose salary is just over $21.1 million this season, said he is not bothered by having to sit out another stretch of games. He has missed 16, 11 and 35 games with assorted knee and back problems over the past three seasons.

“Not really,” he said. “I’ve been dealing with the back, and now it’s the knee. If I could control it, it would be something different. But it’s uncontrollable, and I’m definitely not going to get discouraged about it. I trained my (butt) off in the summertime, and things happen.

“I’m fortunate that I will be able to overcome this. I won’t have to worry about losing my quickness or any of my explosiveness. I’ve just got to build everything back up, which will happen. I should be ready to go by the end of this month.

“I don’t have to go under the knife again. I’m relieved.”

This 3 weeks may help Tracy get back heathy. So I don't really mind him taking time off if its for the better. The way he was playing on the court wasn't helping us a lot, as a matter of fact it was hurting us more.

Now when he comes back after the 3 weeks he better be a better player becasue thats why hes taken the time off becasue its hurting right now. If he comes back and still plays the same way he did before than he doesn't need the time off and maybe he does needs to just play through it I guess.

It is hard to beleive playing is going to get you better when you are in constant pain.
He got a second opinion and that is to rest of 3 weeks.

'DaDakota', kept saying before the wait for Dr. Andrews t o give his opinion. He has siad T-Mac is not where he should be and needs to rest, instead of play.

Dr. Andrews confirmed the diagnosis of the Rockets team doctors that he should play through it....

Take a week off and play through it with reduced minutes.

Tmac is the one saying 3 weeks, and no one should even remotely be believing Peter when he is crying wolf.

You guys are missing the point....he needs to STRENGTHEN the knee, not rest it...that is not going to help.

3 weeks more is not going to make a hill of beans difference unless he rehabs like nuts to strengthen it....

And even then, he could be doing that AND ...playing....AND AND AND playing.....

What happens when Yao or Ron go out because they are over extending themselves to cover up for Tmac's abscence?

What happens when Tmac comes back and still feels a little pain (Which I guarantee you will happen)......it takes TIME to strengthen that knee....time and work.

TMac is just delaying the inevitable, 3 weeks is not a magical cure...people need to stop and think a little bit about it before they believe what Tracy is saying.

He is not exactly known for telling the truth.

Indiana Pacers and a unhealthy Spurs team are two teams we lost too, and we had double digit 4th qt. leads in them.

Nothing is easy with this team with or without T-mac.

Let's just hope that the rest of the team doesn't get injured picking up the slack, and that the 3 week magic jelly bean actually solves the problem.

Anyone want to take bets ?

ANd there is something about personal problems. Obviously, he CAN play through it. But it is pretty frustrating for him, for fans to see him scoring something like 10 or so points in a game. If you are T-Mac it is SO FRUSTRATING.

And maybe he could also heal it by playing but he thinks: I'd better sit for those 3 weeks, work hard and by myself. Because I don't wanna play like that."

And I pretty much agree with that.
