After these last 2 games, in which Steve has taken over, is time we shift him to SG? Not just, when Mooch is unfortunately on the floor.

I said it before this 2 game hot streak, and I'll say it again, yes move him to SG.

If you put some defenders and outside shooters, around this kind of aggresive high-scoring Francis, we win 50+ games.

Imagine how potent are offense can be if Francis scores 25+ a game, while shooting roughly 45-50% ALONG with guys who can cut to the basket or nail open shots?

Do you guys agree? Disagree strongly? Am I genius? A complete moron?

well we'd either have to staple Mobley to the bench, or move him to the 3... I can't see either happening.

Can't move Mobley until Steve's locked up long term... And like you said that leaves Moochie running our offense, so I just don't see how it would work

if it means giving Mooch more minutes or benching/trading Mobes I would say no.

if it means just asking Francis to be more assertive offensively and turning our backcourt into two scoring guards ala Charlotte, fine whatever.

Personally I'd rather get some sort of offensive players for Francis to pass to. (a healthy mo/Rice? A draftee? A traded vet? A 4.5 mil exception player? whatever) and drill Francis to 1. push the ball to try and create fastbreaks and easy/open buckets 2. play d 3. dribble more better.

before I'd ask him to score more. But what do I know.

    Glad you mentioned Cat...

    I think he's the perfect 6th man.

He has a scorer's mentality that can bring instant offense off the bench, when we get off to those horrible offensive starts.

Moreover, Cat would have the advantage over 95% of the backup SG's in the league.

Cat is not a good enough all-around player to log 40 mins a game. He does not create enough for others, play enough defense, play smart, etc to be playing starter minutes.

I think I would ideally have Cat play 25-30 mins.

He is also too streaky to be a starter.

He is John Starks, without the defense.

I wish there were some way we could get Chris Duhon of Duke. A great "true" PG who plays tough D, and knows how to run an offense.

I agree, Cat is perfect 6th man material but I really don't think he would accept the role

And Rudy wouldn't want to upset his players....

Maybe that would be motivation he needs to pick up his defense.

Also, I think Mo Taylor has instant offense/6 man potental as well.

I disagree. I would say about 75% players of the league are not all-around players. Sure, it would be ideal if everyone had the full package, but that's not near the case. To bench Mobley just because he can't do everything would be a big mistake, and is being kind of unrealistic. If they're going to keep Mobley on the bench half the game, he would be more valuable as trade bait. With the Rockets struggling, its just hard for me to imagine how cutting your second best player's minutes in half is going to help the team very much.

And I like Duhon and everything, but he hasn't really proven to me yet that he would make a great NBA player. I'm still all for Steve playing point guard right now, but adding something to our frontcourt. I think we arguably had the worst frontcourt in all of basketball this season, so I'm ten times more worried about that than the backcourt.

Lamar Odom is our answer he could guard any Sf-Pg in the leauge and he is a great passer that can lead our offense like a true poing gurad .

Cat is in the top half of shooting guards in the NBA. He is IMHO a better player then Francis.

At least Cat hustles on defense.

I don't really like the idea of him guarding and being guarded by bigger players. He'll have one of those Iverson like 40%fg's. I think if you want him to shoot more, you get youself a point forward like Odom. 51 mins and no asst ? Isn't that a record or something.

This team is having a tough enough time as it is scoring points. Last night not withstanding. And you want to take one of your Top 2 scoring options out of the line-up just so you can give Francis more shots? That's not how you win games or championships. Mobley dropped 30 last night to go with Francis' explosion. All this team needs is more frontcourt maturity, a few more options off the bench, and good health and a chance to develop chemistry. Moving the ball around a little bit wouldn't hurt.

You're absolutely right he isn't a good enough player to log 40 minutes, well other then the last 3 years that he has been doing so he isn't.

Mobley's been dropping 30 point games all season and it hasn't helped much.

I don't know what kind of defense you guys see him play.... I really don't see it

Give me one example of a game where Cat shut someone down defensively (not a game where the other guy just had an off night)and I'll shut up.

I don't get all the games in Louisiana, but I've never seen it happen.

Yeah he is. And, you can use that line on Stevie as well, except for the all-around player part.

Cuttino is 16th in the NBA in Points Per Game... You don't put the 16th best scorer in the NBA as a six man....There is no difference between him and Francis...Neither of them have been able to carry the team single handedly or together. How can you sit there and diss Cuttino's game and not diss Francis's game at the same time. These two are the Rockets future...and as soon as they both can take there game to the next level...then we will have a playoff team!

I happen to agree with the Starks comment even though I think he is a carjacker in shorts and Ive hated him his entire career...however, Duhon is a joke...this guy was supposed to be the 2nd best guard in the country this past year and he wasn't even the 2nd best guard on his team

    NJRocket,

    So true about Duhon.

I bet, if Williams were to decide to stay for his SR year, my fellow alum Daniel Ewing would probably have Duhon on the bench next year.

OK, kidrock8 (aka Vice-Chairman of the CC.Net chapter of the Duke Blue Devil Boosters), who are you related to that's in the Duke program? :D ;)

I love Ewing, in the H.S. playoffs up here in Austin he made more of an impression on me than T.J. That double overtime game was awesome. He kept Willowridge alive, but so did T.J.

Cat is not going to the bench in the near future. All EGO, if his boy Steve is starting he feels he should start. Next, Steve wants the ball in his hand as a point guard, period. Nothing else satsifies him, if we think about moving him to the 2, he out of here like last year. Hey, that rhymes.
