Well yesterday I spent 7 hours putting up Christmas lights, got all the work done on the ground and will get the vertical stuff up sometime this week. Any other Griswald's out there? I will try to post a pic when I am done. DD
Well, last year when I tried to do this, I ended up swallowing a nail. It was straight up Clark W. Griswald. So I'll probably just put some white lights in our bushes this year...
Just FYI, the new style LED C9 bulbs are crap.. I bought 20 boxes of them a few weeks ago and they are total junk.. They were Phillips, so I spent more on the name thinking I was going to get a better product, I should have just bought the cheap no name brand.. I'd return them all, but taking them down and putting new ones back up isn't worth my time IMO.. Starting next year I'm going to pay someone to put my lights up until we have some kiddos and make an event out of it..
Are the lights just not bright enough? I have noticed some houses with a rather....ehem....dim light display. Right now, my house can be seen from Aircraft at 30k feet.....but I am shooting for a view from the moon. DD
Got all of our lights up yesterday, but we are short on extension cords. So we decided to finish up tuesday after work (Going to the Texans game tonight).
Thirty thousand feet, nice.. No, the LEDs are nice and bright, but the plastic part that has now replaced the old style C9 bulbs tend to fall off.. I've lost about a dozen plastic bulb covers with the wind this past weekend.. Now I have a bunch of exposed LEDs with no caps.. LAME!
No christmas lights as of yet - but I'm working on it... First I'll decorate my cube today, then this week I'll work on the tree, the wreaths, and then the lights. I hope to have it all done by this weekend.
We line the yard and sidewalk with the big white lights on the little stakes. The neighbors do it too, so it looks pretty good. We don't put too many lights on the actual house, but my wife is up to 7 christmas trees IN the house.
my girl spent all day putting up stuff around the house after we did the tree. obviously, that means no lights on the roof, but she did an outstanding job on our pillars on the porch and what not.
I just wanted to make sure that all of you knew . . . Colored lights are prole. If you are going to be prole and use them, make sure they are small and not those giant big bulb lights. Thank you for listening.
Spent 5 hours doing mine Saturday.....wife and kids put up the tree last night and I watched. Im not finished yet...I have to hang my wreath.
heres a pic of what we did.....pretty good i'd say, considering we are just renters. here's the front: here's the other side, since we are on a corner: (the candy canes are red and white, but you cant really tell that from the picture for some reason)
