David Dalati from 610 AM interviewed Les Alexander on several topics today.

On Rudy - Les has total confidence in his ability as coach for this team now and in the future. He told him as much recently in a closed-door meeting.

On CD - He thinks that the current management including CD is the right choice for the rebuilding efforts and can get us another championship.

On Steve Francis - He is confident they will sign him to a long-term extension this summer. That is their intention.

On the Draft - He is only interested in getting the best player available. He did not mention positions.

On the Attendance Problems - He said that the lack of winning doesn't help but that the team must get out into the community and do more to market them. He believes the city loves the team but is frustrated with the losing. He said they want to be more agressive in marketing the team in the community.

On the Future - He said this season sucked and that next year they would have players like Rice (he mentioned him first) and Taylor back. He said that the team has talent and they also have a lottery pick. He feels like the problems this year are primarily attributable to injuries.

its good to see some positive thoughts about our gm, coach, star player, etc.

i think rudy and CD are doing a great job making trades, fa signings and draft choices.

i would like to see rudy do a better job as a coach though. i understand that we have a young team and that you need to give 'em an offence that they can learn (just think of us trying to learn the triangle:eek: ) but we need some movement. i like what doug collins is running with the wiz.

here is to 2003! :p our playoff debut!

Just so you know what was exactly said, Dalati asked him if he wanted to sign Francis in the offseason. Les said that was their intent. He said they are not able to discuss it with him yet but they feel like he is a superstar player. Dalati said, "Are you confident you will be able to re-sign him this summer." Les responded, "Obviously [we are]."

Les mentioned that he is interested in the best player available.I too think that the Rockets are interested in in trading their pick for some veteran help like the front page mentions.
I would like to know which players do you think we could get who could help us out next year considering our salary cap position?

I didn't hear the interview but going by your recap of it it sounds like the typical softball questions lobbed to Les by 610. Why didn't he ask (and maybe he did) why the Rockets ticket prices are so high? Doing more things in the community is NOT the answer to attendance woes. The places and people that the Rockets gear their events toward can't afford tickets in the first place. Les just doesn't get it.

Obviously he forgot to ask the most important question of all: WHEN WILL THE FREAKIN' UNIFORMS CHANGE?????

First off, Les is a HORRIBLE interview. The guy gives two or three word answers. Dalati even said as much after playing the interview.

Second, if you want to continue to get ANY interviews with guys like Les, you don't bother with the hardballs. He'll just walk away.

I agree with what you said but I don't see how Les would become offended and walk away from questions about uniforms.
