With the Coogs coming into the game controlling their own destiny to win the CUSA West, they got popped in the mouth all day long by their cross-town nemesis. Just dominated. This one must really hurt, Donald. Rice prevented you from winning the conference.
RIGHT TODAY: the Owls are better than the Cougs. i see no one answered my question about that clement kid...he totally came out of nowhere today, hmm?
My C-USA Bowl Predictions: # 1 Liberty - Tulsa # 2 GMAC - ECU # 3 Armed Forces - Rice # 4 Texas - Houston # 5 New Orleans - Memphis # 6 Saint Pete - S. Miss
I would type a comeback, but this is pretty much a self-pwn about Rice's inability to put together meaningful seasons over long periods of time..
Rice is our "nemesis" in your mind alone. I guess this is what it feels like to have your little brother finally beat you, but don't get used to it
I went to the game yesterday and had a blast. As you know, I'm a UT Alum, so I had no dog in the fight. Just went with a buddy to enjoy a good football game. Got a great football game instead. Lots of offense. James Casey, #12 for Rice, was a monster. I wouldn't be surprised to see him become a decent pro TE. The atmosphere at Rice Stadium was great. Only bad spot is the small size of the beer garden to the right of the scoreboard in the north end of the stadium, the only place you can buy beer. People were jammed in there like sardines. I asked a Rice U cop why it was so small. "We're lucky they gave us this" was his reply. Oh well, not to matter. Fun times, even for someone who didn't go to either school. Glad I went.
Definitely come to a game at Robertson next season! We sell beer and our bathrooms are marginally better!
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/nemesis nem⋅e⋅sis –noun, plural -ses /-ˌsiz/ 1. something that a person cannot conquer, achieve, etc.: The performance test proved to be my nemesis. 2. an opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome. actually, this year Rice was your nemesis.
Glad to hear you had a good time! It's nice to know that at least a few non-Rice/UH football fans showed up. With any luck, we might've picked up a few regulars. Great game as well, I think the keys for Rice were getting good pressure on Keenum (in the first half especially) and having the D show up when it mattered (fumble late, goal line stand in the 3rd). Still, knowing UH, I was nervous until the clock ran out. Good game Cougs...but the Bucket's back on South Main!!!!
Great win for your program. This is probably the best Owl season in decades and since I root for Rice against the 117 Division I programs not named University of Houston I am proud of them. Lets not get too carried away though. This win brings Rice to 10-24 against the Coogs and with Clement and Dillard slated to graduate (doubtless with sparkling GPA's) It might be a while before the South Main squad can handle the Cullen bunch again.
