I see your point if you think the Knicks would have gave him a chance to keep contributing, but I think they were gonna take the cheap w**** route with him and use him only until they got their full roster back.

I'm not saying Steph isn't being as ass here. I'm saying both parties are acting silly, and I don't believe the Knicks have the right to act that way just because they are paying him. Well, they have that right...but they shouldn't be suprised when they dump someone and he doesn't want to come back and help in an emergency situation.

Amazing, Jalen Rose just described Marbury as a "cancer" that needs to be "cut off".

Staphon Marbury was benched for a reason. he is a cancer to the Knicks organization. he is a cancer to National Basketball Association.

he is an embarrassment, why can't some people see this? the Knicks needed to clean Isiah's dirty laundry, and this is the best thing that could happen to them.

my hunch still tells me he goes to Europe this season. he might be back on an NBA team, but not this year. he is too volatile.

i also love how everyone takes everything Staph says like it is the final source on the matter. This is coming from the guy who thought his and Isiah Thomas' sexual harassment case was"a joke," or a stuttering, slurred speech rant about climbing the mountains of Los Angeles in the offseason.

get this nutcase as far away from an NBA team as posible

he denied saying he refused playing BEFORE the suspension. BEFORE!!! He says they didnt even have a damn jersey for him in that one gay they wanted him to play.

This whole thing is bull**** if you ask me. Knicks tried to do the same **** with Larry Brown.

again, what Staph says and what Staph does are two different things.

and of course I am aware of the incompetence of Dolan and the Knicks org.

but the team needed to move on, that's for sure.

It comes down to this. The Knicks told Marbury they had no use for him and didn't want him to play for them. Then they went crying to him because they were short on players to bail them out for a few games.
Either send him home, play him or pay out the rest of his contract.

Except he is being paid by the organization and is contractually obligated to play as much or as little as they want. He is not paying the organization.

Sounds like a classic case of Repudiatory Breach of Contract.

NYKnicks have honored their portion of the contract by paying Starbury his salary. However Starbury has consciously and willingly refused to honor his portion of the contract by refusing to play when asked.

Starbury has no legal reason for refusing to honor his portion of the contract therefore I believe that if the Knicks organization was so inclined they would have a very real legal right to cancel the contract and sue Starbury for damages.

I guess that depends on if you ask Starbury or D'Antony.

He was asked or ordered to play is just semantics.

I'll give you a legal reason, How about public humiliation? That could very easily be a legal reason for Marbury to not play...........

    Actually...no it could not.

Nothing in Starbury's contract garuntee's him a certain amount of playing time. However, refusal to play when called upon is a breech of contract.

I can't believe how many people here are siding with the Knicks. James Dolan has run that team into the ground and made it a laughing stock. D'Antoni has always been a prick.

Marbury may be crazy, but he's going to get his money back. The coach is pursuing a personal vendetta against Marbury, and without proof that he refused to play, this suspension will not hold up. Marbury was on record saying he was asked, the coach never denied it, and it went on for a few games. All of the sudden when they are really really short handed the coach gets pissed and decides to suspend him in retribution.

Steph was never a distraction until the Knicks made him into one. They continue to fail on every level.

I can't believe I'm defending Marbury. I've hated him almost his entire career. But to see people side with the Knicks and Dolan when this is clearly their own doing is ridiculous.

Dude refuses to get into the car...lol

The way I see it is that Marbury is getting screwed the way he's been screwing teams for years, D'antoni wants to make an example out if him, has a grudge on him, whatever. But Karma is a b**** for Starbury. I feel no pity for him and hope he loses as much money as possible.

He got in the car happily and in great physical and mental shape to begin the season.....

Dantoni proceeded to kick him out of the car, tied him up and dragged him behind the car for a month, and then when he lost a wheel, he asked Marbury to jump right back on......
    Marbury respectfully declined........

I can't believe the majority is defending Marbury! Yeah D'Antoni shunned him but that's because Stephon is a loser, whereas D'Antoni wants to win.

Steph came into camp in great shape, and then D'Antoni sat him on the bench....

If they are putting their eggs in Mike's basket they need to do the right thing and cut Stephan loose.

But, the Knicks know that he can still play and if he goes somewhere else and plays well, they look like chumps, so they try to assasinate his character even more.

I am 100% behind Marbury here...he is getting jobbed.
