Ok I just picked up a Sony Bravia 32inch 720 LCD

    model # KDL-32L4000

most people have being saying to get "1080" of course and that's what I was

looking for until I saw this TV at Microcenter for $499 for a Sony Bravia it

    seems like a good deal.

So I was told that you cant really tell the different between a 720 and a 1080 on a 32inch TV .... until you get 42 or bigger?

    Is that true?

1080p vs. 720p is only relevant in 50" and above.

You're good with what you got

Personally I simply would never get a 1080p. For one you save a boat load with 720p. And for me I watch blurays less than 10% of the time I use my HDTV and honestly that is the only time you actually utilize 1080p. I am not sure if there is a "1080p" video game out there that actually runs at 1080p, maybe the Gran Turismo game. Sports, and TV in general, is not broadcast in 1080p. So is it worth it to spend big bucks on 1080p when you can barely notice the difference in the first place? I guess it depends on how often you use bluray and if you anticipate that broadcast TV will adopt 1080p sometime soon.

1080p on a small tv is for suckers. its impossible to see a difference at that size. maybe if u sit one inch from the screen to see the pixels.

I just bought a new TV and I had this same debate with myself.

I went with the 1080p version of my TV.

In the end, it would've bugged the ever-living-crap out of me those times when I did have a 1080p source that I couldn't display.

If I'm going to spend a good chunk of change, I do not want to have an ounce of regret for the next 12 months.

Only reason I'd get 1080p on such a small Tv is if I'm connecting a PC to it to play games as well. You'll need 1080p if your PC games can boost up to a higher resolution than 720 but then again I think 1080i is good enough for that.

    a 1080p 32inch tv is $1000, a 720p 32inch tv is $500
that's the debate. i'm sure if you got a big tv the 1080p is worth it.

the iphone is 640x480. why don't they make it 1080p? cause at smaller sizers, its impossible to see pixels at that high of resolution.

I care more about pixel mapping than the resolution. I guess pixel mapping is only available on 1080p sets?

I use my TV as my computer monitor, and it's only a 720p/1080i for 37 inch TV which I think is fine. However, the also means if I want to set the resolution at 1280 x 1024 my refresh rate is only at 30 Hz, and there is a difference.
