Just a horrible thing for Yao to do at this critical time -- he should be suspended for at least two games.
WHATEVER A coach can live with death by 3's but not layups. Fundamental basketball force low percentage shots. sure Murphy can make them but you take your chances. Yao is pissed because he is trying to do so much to adapt to defense and offense as opposed to making both adapted to his abilities.
Yao wanted the ball? Lol 'I could make some baskets' You damn didn't need to. You had one to win the game. But you can't dunk, excuse me, I just forgot that.
If I had to chose Adelman or Yao I will pick Yao and bring back Van Gundy. Plain and simple. At least Jeff coached with some passion and this team needs a fire put under their ass.
You don't remember Yao complaining to the Chinese media about how Adelman was using him a year ago? I'm not going to go dig it up, but I'm pretty sure it happened.
yao should be more agressive going up with his shots. adleman, however, has been questionable in his coaching abilities; i wouldn't mind him being fired. the team has terribly underperformed with such talent level and even relative to last year. perhaps its simply a time/injury/personnel issue and this will get straightened out eventually.
The 3-pointer is not a low percentage shot. You're forgetting that they are worth one more point than a 2-pointer. If your guy shoots 33% on threes, you're still giving up the same number of points per shot as allowing a guy to shoot 50% on twos. The 3-point line has to be guarded.
yeah, but you don't typically use yao to guard three point shooters if he's not being used offensively.
That's what I'm saying. Yao shouldn't be used to guard 3-point shooters, because he can't. The only result is you make your interior defense and perimeter defense worse (Yao can't be in the paint when his man is at the 3-point line -- it's illegal).
This what Adelman said: Video at http://www.nba.com/rockets/index_main.html If the above isn't fabricated Yao just needs to shut it and step up in a game.
In one of Fritz's articles one of the scouts he interviewed was gushing over Adelman about his trust in them. The scout mentioned how the Rockets went to Adelman asking if it was OK if he were to start the season with rookie PF as their intention was to draft Landry to fill that role and Scola was nowhere in the picture at the time.
Whatever problem they have right now need to be resovled quickly before another coach and another year got flush down to tolet.
Your understatement of Yao's defense to this team is not funny. Be honest here, I didn't see the game. But anytime you have a 7 footer guy shooting trey out there, somebody out there should rotate to cover that guy and Yao just stay in the middle to collect the boards. If you reduce your opponent to that, your defense job is done.
I can understand Yao being a little confused. This is what Adelman said after the Heat game: “Yao (Ming) can’t come out from the rim. He has to stay at the rim because that’s where he is effective. He just has to stay back there because that’s when he’s really effective because he’s so big that if he just stays there he is hard to shoot over.” This is what Adelman said after the Pacers game: "I think that they made a couple of shots. Yao was guarding ( Troy) Murphy and sometimes you've got to go out, you can't stay back when you're playing a shooter. Let your teammates help you, but those are things that happened."
who cares? we have them now. jvg would utilize their talents now that he knows how good they are. in terms of winning now, i'd bet jvg would be a better fit to get our current team to win.
Can anyone verify for me if we are the only team in the league with only one seven footer on the roster? It also seems that we are the only team in the league with no power forwards over 6'7" - 6'8". I have been saying this for over three + years now. We need someone on this team who can have Ming's back, and slide over to the 5 slot and not welcome the opposition to attack the rim. When there is a spot up center who like to take 3's, you don't have your center running out leaving the rim open. That's basketball 101....
