So Cleveland Wins and we lose and EVERYONE is happy. I know that every lottery ball counts and this season is technically finished for the Rockets. But damnit, I like to see a victory every once and a while. I want to see Moochie hit a game winning shot and do his victory dance. I wanna see Wink take everyone to school and completely dominate a game like he can. Most likely, we will get either the 5th or 6th pick. Look at Cleveland though. Atleast they acted as spoilers against Indiana tonight. Even if we were so blessed to get a 1, 2, or 3 pick, would you be proud of being Tank City? I hope we beat the living crud out of Memphis when we play them again. Lets show some freaking heart and give us a glimpse of what is to come next season.

I'm not happy. I understand intellectually that losing tonight might help our draft position, but emotionally I just don't care. I want to at least see the Rockets TRY.

i don't understand how we didn't try tonight. not trying and losing are 2 completely different things that are often stuck together. we were simply outmanned and they're probably a better team anyways. i always want us to win, but a big part of me is glad for every game we lose down the stretch. i don't believe in tanking but if we can play hard like tonight and just lose every game by like a point, it'll be better in the long run.

BigM, its not that we aren't trying.. its that we get OUTPLAYED every game now. There is no excuse for that. This team has showed no heart and I think that this year's circumstances has caused that(injuries at all the wrong times). But if you play with more heart and intensity than the other team.. you should atleast win 2 out of 5 games.

Amen Franchise. I was going to post that on this thread, but you already read my mind. I understand the benefit of tanking, but I think it may have a worse effect on our teams confidence. At times it looks as if the Rockets are going through the motions, with no intensity or desire to win the game.

it didnt have a bad effect on the spurs did it? you have to have faith that houston will be a totally different team next year. i believe they will win around 50games and be in playoffs.

    Cato/ Griff/??
    KT/MoT/Griff
    ????/Rice/Tmo
    Mobley/Torres
    Francis/Moochie

good draft picks will be additional pieces to the puzzle along with EG maturing as a player. he can only get better meaning only good things for houston.
if they won 45 games last season, adding a draft pick and EG getting better can only mean good things

for the most part i agree, we definitely seem to be going through the motions in 3, maybe 4 out of 5 games. but, look at the lineup we threw out there tonight, what was it our 67th different starting crew? with what players we had on top of terrible shooting, we still had a chance to win late in the fourth. how is that not showing heart? if anything the magic looked like they were the ones going through the motions.

It didn't hurt the spurs but that was a 50 win team that lost their 1st and 2nd best players on the team for the whole yr. Can the Rockets say that? The prize for their effort? The best , most skilled big man to come along since Shaq. If it was a player, a unanimous number 1 big man, i would say tank and pray, but its not. Duncan was the the best player in the college ranks bar none. Who is it this yr? The excuses ran out a long time ago and unless this team adds something, the current cast will be pretty much .500 which is still out of the playoffs in the west.

If you look at the Magic their talent is no better than ours, and Grant Hill is out. They have no true center. They're a patchwork team with role players built around a budding superstar. But they are well coached and typically give 150% effort (last nite was a rare exception).

They are clearly a better TEAM than the Rockets with talent no better than ours. I think Doc Rivers could beat Rudy with his players or our players.

The spectre of this is what really has me worried as we head into 2002:( I don't like what I'm seeing and I hate what I'm feeling.

    - and NO I DON"T FEEL BETTER!!

I'm prouder of the Rockets being 25th in the league in won-lost record than 29th in the league in attendance.

What have the Rockets shown us this year that would lead anyone to think they could win 50 games next year? They can't even beat Memphis on a regular basis.

AMEN! Isnt the point of the season to try to see the players and the team grow?? This team does not desperately need a draft pick, but even worse, they need to gain a winning mentality, which is not happening. I want to see them show some pride and heart too. This team is going to hold its own next year with Mo T and Glen coming back, but it wont mean a thing if they dont believe that they can win.
