Wait, so you're saying based on head to head record, the Rox couldnt get thru the WC to face the Bulls, but they woudve beaten them had they made it?

    Ok.

As far as being out of shape, I dont know.....I really dont care how much you work out, when you're in baseball shape and try to play NBA basketball, I'm guessing youre going to be in different shape.

Of course we're talking about Michael Jordan, who is, in fact, not human.

yes, we were a bad matchup for them.

In the same way the Sonics would have killed us in 94 had Denver not knocked them out.

    Oh. Gotcha.

    Bulls>Eastern Conference

    Western Conference>Houston Rockets

Bulls>Eastern Conference and Western Conference but < Rockets, who were <Western Conference

    So in closing, Oklahoma>Texas

I guess, I mean the NBA is about matchups. I am not even sure you logic is consistent there.

Also I am still pissed that you played the deliverance music when describing houston to Ron Artest. You live in freakin cow town. :)

I think Howard is a better player and Yao is a better center. If people cannot understand that I am at a loss. If people disagree then thats fine.

I would take Howard in a Draft if it were held today.

In a 7 game series, I would take Yao.

The difference is Howard is the much safer choice due to reliability in addition to higher up-side, but Yao is simply the better player (until proven otherwise) when the two are on the court at the same time.

You know I'll co-sign to that.

I think Howard is the one to draft for starting a franchise, but if you need to win an important series...I think I take Yao.

People, we're talking about Yao vs. Dwight Howard here. We're talking about Yao OWNED AND PWNED Dwight Howard. Let's not throw in Hakeem and David Robinson, or anyone else here.

Stick to the subject. Yao owned Dwight Howard, that's all folks.

Invalid comparison. Neither Jabbar or Moses struggled when they matched up with other bigs with size. They both just got off on everyone. There wasn't a clear difference in their production when they went up against big frontlines (i.e. Yao or the Pistons) and when they didn't.

You keep citing Howard's numbers against the rest of the league. You are right, he is bringing it and outperforming Yao so far. But when folks note how it's still easier to run an offense through Yao, and how Yao busts his ass every time they play...well those are valid comparisons. If I had a seven game series I would rather have Yao.

I have no problem saying Howard's the best center in the league except against Yao. He hasn't improved his offense, which as-is is very efficient, but he's improved his blocked shots. That IS the one area he can improve, his defense. He might not be holding anyone out the paint just going for blocks and rebound numbers like Camby, but 4 blocks a game 1.5 ahead of 2nd place is pretty good.

Its a current a rating of Howard 9.2 and Yao 9.0 with Yao a chance of getting to 9.3 if he plays a healthy 70-something games.

I don't get how Howard being better vs rest of the league has anything to do with being better than Yao. So you can be the best at something, yet there is always someone better than you. How can you still be the best when someone always kicks your ass?

Pretty much. Its simple, you remember Golden State vs Dallas 2 seasons ago.
Rockets were the one team that was Golden State to the Bulls' Dallas at that time ('95 and back)

Bulls games were like anticipating the Hawks coming to town or something, nothing much to fret over. Itda really been easier on everyone and not worth one ounce of projections if the Bulls whooped up on the Rockets every time they faced, but it just didnt happen.

On that note, the Bulls were still the team of the decade, just not head to head with the Rockets. Like Dwight Howard is (baaarely) better than Yao except head to head.

This long long post reflects your ignorance.

Talking about head-to-head, we don't use 1-game data. Go to check out all-time record Yao vs. Howard. BTW, go back to check all time head-to-head record between Yao and AB, Kaman, and Perkins. Let me tell you Yao owned them.

It's somewhat like compare Wade with Kobe. I would draft Wade, but I would take Kobe in a 7 game series.

don't you guys think it's a little early to jump the gun now? it's been only 13 games. if you want to base it on just stats, history has shown us that they're pretty even matched up, except for this season... which is what? 1/8th done.

i'm going to make a prediction and say, by the end of this season, the numbers are still going to be close.

I resurrected my thread for carmichael dave.

I do understand where he's coming from since the entire country gets to watch Jordan and the Rockets were never on tv. I think I saw the bulls on tv more and i lived in Houston back then.

my gripe are the so called 'Rockets fans' who don't love the championships. yet if we win with yao/tmac, that would be considered 'legit'. my ass. those rockets teams of the past played much better teams than Utah and Dallas.

hey carmichael, where was Jordan in 1985? Dream was in the Finals!
    yeah but but but but
    exactly
