i think he meant sitting out certain games here and there, not an extended period of time. b/c yes, him playing limited minutes is recommended by the doctors.

I still love his magic back doctor. So far:
    magic enchanted doctor 1
    back pain 0

Does anyone have a magic knee doctor?

I hope no one gets on Keith Jones this year. He can't call forth subcellular pep rallies. We should blame his parents and his parents parents and their sperm and so forth.

His doctors think he suffers from age. Most of us should think so. Then again if one surgery didn't help why should two?

Someone also posted some info that doctors predicted T-Mac's playing window to be small due to scoliosis. Anyways, he has the right idea. He will take some bashing but its the right decision. The way he gets in Artest's face, encourages him to lead and score. Its like McGrady is sending a message. Trying to get Artest where he needs to be so McGrady can wait until the playoffs.

    Interesting.

I suppose the real test will come when it's time to resign him. It's hard to dump on a guy when you know that he's merely the victim of bad genes (which is an ironic statement considering how far he's come on exactly that).

Does he value this team enough to take a pay cut? Of course, that's if he has anything left at that point. It's hard to see him pulling a Larry Bird at so young an age comparatively. If he did have to call it quits at 30ish, I'd be sad but couldn't hate him for it.

I moved from Boston to Houston in '89. My first memories were of a severely waning Larry Bird. It wasn't pretty. At least he never pulled a Len Bias. I mean, we have our Eddie Griffin...

I think the timing will be less about the schedule and more about Shane playing again. Without Shane, we're still fairly shallow in the wing positions.

I'll take this, against scrub teams we don't really need him.

It would be a very good ecision for T-mac. With Artest and Yao in the line-up we should be able to win against most of the teams who are terrible like the Bobcats and T-Wolves.

And how long it is gonna take? Well if he has to, than yes. We should let him sit

Here is the chron's take on it...

    article link

Rockets notes: McGrady considers sitting out

While the Rockets go forward with their plan to work Tracy McGrady back to full strength while limiting his minutes, McGrady said he is also considering whether he might be better off sitting out to concentrate on building leg strength.

On Monday, McGrady had said, “Until further notice, I’m shutting it down.” He has played each of the three games since and expects to play Monday in Miami to complete a three-game road trip.

“I told myself I was going to give myself this road trip to see how things were going to go and when it ends, I was going to talk to everybody and make a decision,” McGrady said.“I think I need it (time off). I felt like I had to be out here for the start of the season because our schedule was so tough. I didn’t want us to get in a hole. But looking forward, I think we have enough talent on this team if I was to sit out and we get Shane (Battier) back, I think we’ll be fine.

“My mentality is to try not to play the whole season the way I am now. If it takes some sitting down, that’s what I’m going to have to do. ”

The Rockets medical staff, however, believes that McGrady can best complete his comeback from his May 6 knee surgery, with Rockets coach Rick Adelman a proponent of playing through the difficulties.

“It’s physical, but also mental,” Adelman said. “He has to push through it. I think he learned how much pain you’re going to have, how much discomfort you’re going to have. You’re going to have to find a way to get through it.

“That’s what he’s struggling with right now. He can’t do some of the things he used to do. We’re hoping over time that starts coming back gradually.”

    Yao benefits from plan

Yao Ming’s shots that clinched the Rockets’ win were vital, but the timeouts before them might’ve made those shots possible.

Rockets coach Rick Adelman has spent much of the season trying to get better ball movement and to get his players to move more, especially down the stretch of games. Those struggles have often made it tough for Yao Ming to get shots.

On Saturday, a pair of timeouts let Adelman tweak the Rockets’ sets, forcing Yao and the ball to move, with Yao getting deep touches to key the Rockets’ offense down the stretch.

“You can’t come down to him on the strong side and just say we’re going to throw it in. You have to go from one side to the other and not make it so obvious,” Adelman said.

my thoughts exactly...especially now with all the miles on his body along i'd rather have him cadillac through the season then have enough gas in the tank to go all out in the playoffs

He should sit whenever he wants to sit.

Tmac has a very subtle mind-set when it comes to his health. And he's more self-motivated than others. Let me make his own decision. He can play good when his inner-self says " I want to." That's my understanding of him so far after watching his games for about 4 years.

It would be fine if he sat out and dedicated himself to rehab and strengthening his knee...something he should have done this summer.

But, the inference on the radio and from the Rockets is they are worried he will not dedicate himself to rehab properly and it is better that he strengthen the knee by playing through it.

The drama around this guy is amazing......

T-Mac looked better at the start of the season then he does now. He was getting penetration, and he was getting more lift. Whatever approach the Rockets are using right now, it doesn't seem to be working.

I don't like it from the standpoint that I see it as him wussing out yet again. Did you see Ron limping around and off the court last night? Dude just got it done and manned up.

Shane is still a couple of weeks away so that's going to leave us really small in the backcourt. I do however like that Wafer and Barry should get some more time to get their shots falling.

I also think that it will help the flow of the offense. The ball seems to move better when Tracy isn't playing. Maybe this will get Ron to be more assertive.

That might be good for the team but will suck for me if I don't get to root for T-Mac when the Rox play the T-Wolves at the Target Center on Dec. 20. :(
