I think this team is just beginning to finally catch on. You could see it in glimpses in the 3rd quarter, and in the whole 4th quarter. Actually, I'm going to download the game tonight (first game I download), just because of that 4th quarter.
did you see the dunk by Artest in 1st half, that is what he should do more, instead of jump shoot and lay-up, he has the strength and leap to do more dunks
but it was still due to yao's iso post up and drawing the double teams. other guys simply passed up shots that could have easily taken for a better shots. there wasn't adelman movement all over the floor like you've been wanting, which is ridiculously unrealistic. guys simply moved the ball.
I do want more movement off the ball, and there was more of it, but more importantly is when a double comes you pass to the open guy. Washington actually ran some great motion read and react offense...and were back cutting the Rockets all night. The Rockets could do some of that and incorporate Yao's inside out game too. Only one complaint, lazy rebounding and terrible FT shooting......but...the Rockets won, and that is all that matters. DD
Just back from the game. The good: 1) Yao's dunk, "beauty and beast", wish he does that more often 2) Tmac's 3, don't particularly like them, but am glad he made them, prior to that the whole team was sluggish 3) Brooks' 3 with Scola as a decoy, Brooks and Landry kept us in the game when we had no offense whatsoever 4) Not seen Head The bad: 1) motionless offense until the final minutes; 2) more importantly and even worse, hopeless on defense, how many layups did Wizards have and how many points inside total? Poor JVG must be pulling rest of his hair out while witnessing the defense he installed went nowhere. Seeing how Boston plays defense against Detroit and how a tight D help out your O by frustrating opponents' O AND D on both end, then look at our team, I feel blue even after a win. 3) free throws 4) slow start as usual
its sad this game just made it glaringly obvious the rockets biggest obstacle to overcome is themselves. Talent and skill wise they can play with anyone. It doesn't matter how hot the other team is on any given night. But whether the rockets win or lose is 100% dependent on their mental state of mind.
That's good! Screw Rick Idleman, errrrrrrr...... Adelman! He can't even carry JVG's jockstrap! JVG >>>>>>>>>>>> Adelman
5 Rockets players scored in double figures - a good sign, even with the sluggish offense. 14, 18, 20, 18, 19...
the reason we could do the inside-outside game tonight cuz the wizards had a rookie guarding yao, hence the double teams and open 3s. but how many other teams will have a rookie guarding him? most will have their centre fronting yao, denying him the ball or try to defend him one on one, and this type of offence will not work. anyway we beat the crappy wizards and im happy
DD until you understand that our stars are isos, you will keep pounding an irrelevant point about movement off the ball. with these stars, YOU WANT TO GIVE THEM SPACE TO OPERATE. when you move and cut, sometimes you bring defenders to them and prevent them from doing their thing. in the 4th, we SPREAD the floor with everyone occupying a position all over the floor. therefore, when the double came to yao, he could pass and thus it's harder to recover. now had they mvoe around too much, that would never happen. WHY CAN'T PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD GET THAT? we ain't the kings. movement off the ball is stupid with this group of guys. moving the ball is different and is better -> making that extra pass to the open guy. that's what we need to do. not moving people willy nilly.
Yaos' "iso post up".. wasn't exactly all it was.. the ball movement was at the perimeter.. there was no Yao reposts or wastes of energy down low.. all the while keeping the floor spread.. to the point where Yao was the only Rockets players on the low block.. everyone else was at the 3pt line or outside it.. also.. that off the ball movement "all over the floor".. is not "ridiculously unrealistic" it's what had us ahead for the first half of the NO game.. and gave us that lead.. also.. was the only offense we had in the Lakers game.. after the first it just disappeared.. a little more awareness please.. and less by-the-seat-of-your-pants excitability..
for Yao.. as it did this game.. yes.. the above applies infallibly... you must understand why that is.. once again...
Wait, so you are saying that Tmac should not move when he doesn't have the ball? You do understand that is what I mean by moving without the ball right? And in case you didn't see it, Yao was moving OFF the ball and getting a screen allowing him to get deep post position all game long. THAT IS MOVEMENT OFF THE BALL !!! Some teams play Yao differently and that type of dump it in system will not work against that.......I don't want to abandon anything that is working...I want good ball movement, and recognizing the defenses weakness, and exploit it. WHY CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND....WHY ARE WE YELLING? No one said run Sacrementos offense completely, but moving without the ball, setting screens to get people open is essential to any good basketball team. You can't just stand around and expect to win that way, it doesn't work.....even Dream's teams moved off the ball....Horry down the middle on a dunk cut remind you of anything? DD

What do you guys think of Adelman's move to put Ron on the bench at the start of the 2nd half? And do you think it was successful?
