this is not a tracy bashing post. just wanted to check CF's pulse on a thought I had watching basketball on TNT tonight.

i just watched boston vs. detroit, and saw how far that celtics team has come since they put their big 3 together. i honestly think that even though he's a great player, KG's best attribute is how much he inspires all the other celtics to play with intensity and passion. i genuinely think they want to win for him, and for themselves. i don't think any of the celtics want to be the guy that gives less than 100% and has to look KG in the eyes after a game.

our "leader" is tracy. like it or not, he's the guy ESPN interviews. he's the guy with the endorsement deals. he's the most vocal (even though most of the time many of us wish he wouldnt be). he's the central piece of the puzzle from a leadership standpoint.

but does anyone think the players are actually inspired by him, or feed off his energy, or want to help him win, get to the second round, or anything else? do you think anyone is afraid of letting him down?

i really wonder if that's the thing that all these analysts mean when they say "he makes his teammates better". maybe its not about assists or scoring or pounding your chest on the court or being a vocal leader at all. maybe it's about being able to make other players play harder, care more, and feel accountable.

    thoughts?

I just want to see what this team can do with EVERYONE
healthy and playing with great ball movement on offense creating easy shots and playing suffocating defense--that's what I want to see from the all star break and onward into the playoffs.

this may be our last year to see mac-ming try for a ship.

Yes, since Tracy is the guy that pays the salary

i think every team (besides the dysfunctional ones) plays for the team.

i think the teams that find real success play for more than the team. I think the Jazz play for Sloan. I think the Lakers play for Kobe & Phil. I think the Hornets play for CP3. I think the Celtics play for KG & Pierce. I think the Spurs play for Duncan & Pop. I think the Cavs play for LBJ.

I think that teams that find the kind of success we want for the Rockets take the core of their identity from at least one central figure. They all play for the Team too, but I think they play even harder because there's a person they'll feel accountable to if they slack off.

It's kinda like how you'll work out harder in the gym if there is a pretty girl nearby :) you don't necessarily know you're doing it, but you do, because you have that little bit of extra motivation. haha.

If so, I hope if Mutumbo signs, our players play even harder to try to get Mt. Mutumbo a well deserved ring before he retires!

I actually can't cough or laugh right now due to overdoing it on my crunches in the gym yesterday because a smoking hot blonde was on the decline next to mine.

Yeah, this is a great post. Obviously in the 1st half we played no defense, than we played no offense in the 3rd quater. But those guys showed HEART, they played very hard.

We made that great run, we just didn't have enough field goals and stops..

Everybody wants to win. That is what good teams needs.

OMFG !! how is anyone going to play for Tracy? The guys must be the most anti-leader i ever watched, even when he plays with fire he seems that he doesnt care.

And those sayin "yesterday we played with a lot of heart". I am sorry, but when you play with heart you are not allowing the kind of steals and turnovers we´ve got in that match, the team played with heart in the 4th quarter only, and they cruised for 3 quarters, the only ones who seemed awake froms the start were Scola and Alston.

"does anyone think the players . . . feed off his energy?" ???????

Wait, you are asking if the players feed off T-Mac's energy?????

You mean like when he's walking around on the court and the other players start walking around too?

I think they harness his energy in the soles of his shoes and at the end of the game they use it to power the light on Aaron Brooks' wristwatch.

Feeding off T-Mac's energy. . . . You mean like the way reptiles don't die in the winter because even though it's really cold, there's still energy in the atmosphere and it doesn't get as cold as outer space?

Feed off T-Mac's energy. . . . Yeah, like when I go to the library, this librarian gives off this really strong vibe and I start feeding off it and acting all quiet and sleepy. That kind of thing?

T-Mac is not a leader. It's not fair to expect him to be. It's like asking a rabbit to be a cow.

It is fair however to expect that he'll stop jacking up shots from one foot inside the 3 point line. Fer crissake, either step back so that you have a shot a the three or move closer to the basket.
