I can't really say that either guy has the edge. Both have managed to succeed despite injuries, yet neither has been out of the first round with this franchise. I honestly can't cast a vote with confidence just yet.
last night’s game was very disappointed, and Von and Barry shouldn’t be on the court at the same time, but why in the world would you want to see Joey Dorsey play? He’s not going to be effective in the game, he got no offense, and he’s same version as chuck hayes with a better athleticism. We’ve been trailing for the most part in the game, which means we need to score more points and play some decent D. RA should’ve put Aaron Brooks, Rafael Alston, Von Wafer, Ron Artest, and Scola in the late 4th quarter when they were making the final run. Instead he put Tmac in Von Wafer and Brooks out, remember Brooks was hitting those 2 long 3s for us to get back in the game.. all of sudden, Alston and Tmac came back in.. RA already mentioned he trusts his starters, but he has to realize if the unit on the floor is playing so well, why sending the starters back in?? not to mention Tmac was limping the whole game.. Go with the flow, and dont fix it if it aint broke........ right??
RA, just look at the way we moved the ball during the 22 game winning streak and the 22 game winning streak itself should say enough. Also, the confidence RA showed in Landry, Brooks, Scola & Harris and now Wafer would've never happened under JVG. + RA should've won coach of the year last year. Overall he's the better coach too, because the night against the Suns and Hornets was all drawn up by the coaching staff and had nothing to do with JVG. The JVG mentality is gone and we can still play good defense; defense of course is JVG bread and butter so I have to give the edge to RA.
I think RA would be a better coach for this team without Artest, JVG would be a better coach for this team with Yao & Artest only. With all three of them, I don't know the answer.
It's really hard to say who would be better. Honestly, I think the pros and cons of both coaches all equally cancel each other out. But after that lazy effort in the last game, what this team really lacks is more "energy", which one thing that JVG readily emphasized. I feel that every player on this team (except for Aaron Brooks) is underachieving and downplaying their abilities. JVG would be that coach to discipline and push his players until eventually they reached their potential. That's a positive of JVG. But the biggest criticism of JVG when he was here was that he relied too much on Tmac and Yao on every play and every game, which may have worn them out in the long run. Also his style of offense was very predictable. Almost every possession was a set play, which made it easier on the opposing defense. But when JVG's set offense worked, we could've easily blown-out any team in the regular season. But in the playoffs, his predictable offense was hard to sustain in a 7-game series. Adelman's offense on the other hand, is more about ball movement, making cuts, and having a good court sense. When/If this offense works, the other team has a very hard time defending it. Whether Adelman can make this offense come into being is still unknown. IMO, this team just needs more time to "get it". We've seen flashes of this offense working. It's up to the players whether they want to commit and learn this offense until it becomes second-nature.
