ShakeGod vs.plutoblue 11 Now Shake is leading 4-2 The winner is gonna nominated, and likely to get into the HOF. Loser gets two choices to choose from. Senario One: Kiss a donkey's ass and have a taste of shaq's s***. Senario Two: Accept the Doc ship from the same uni where yao got his.
According to statistical website basketball-reference, Yao would have a 5.03% likelihood of making the Hall of Fame if his career was to end today. The model used to calculate the Hall of Fame probability is based on logistic regression and has 8 variables: 1. height (in inches) 2. last season indicator (1 if 1959-60 or before, 0 otherwise) 3. NBA points per game 4. NBA rebounds per game 5. NBA assists per game 6. NBA All-Star game selections 7. NBA MVP award shares 8. NBA championships won It had a 96.7% success rate in correctly classifying players. *Note T-Mac is a 98% likelihood to find himself in Naismith.
Based on the criteria that general NBA players have to meet? Not at this rate. I will say that I disagree with the way most Hall of Fames work in sports. It should be a Hall of FAME, a way of commemorating the true history of the sport, and very few work like that. Bill Simmons pushes for something I agree with, and that is Halls that have different wings to commemorate different categories. There should be a place for role players that were key to championships, such as Robert Horry or Danny Ainge. There should be a place for those that were highly controversial players or ones that were lost: Len Bias, Reggie Lewis, Drazen Petrovic. There should be a "sacred" wing for the true legends (talking 1 or 2 per decade on average), one were admittance doesn't take place for at least 15 or 20 years after they retired (Chamberlain, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Russell). Having said all that, Yao's resume doesn't come CLOSE to HoF material. I'd honestly say that Robert Horry is more deserving of the Hall than Yao unless Yao really turns things around in his next 3 years. And playoff success is going to have to be a part of that too. If you agree that Chris Webber or Kevin Johnson aren't HoF material, than you'd be hypocritical to turn around and push for Yao. Evan
Yao's career is more or less the same as Alonzo Mourning. If Zo can makei why can't Yao? Problem is I dont think Zo deserve it even he has a ring to back it up. To conclude, I don't think Yao deserve a seat as of right now unless he lead the rockets to the champion!
As most of things in Yao career, maybe because he is chinese, and he is not even the first one, but ifwe are going to open a second HOFF in China, or sell HOF shirts in china SURE he will be in. Based on common requirements for non-chinese players, he has no chance of getting in. His only shot is that he makes it for being the first Asian Star on the NBA, but don´t worry, i think they will find a way to make him in, and make it lucrative of course -
I think it depends on how the team is going to do in the next few years, and if he can sustain at this level for 3+ more seasons. It's a possibility at this point.
Yao has been selected to the nba 2nd and 3rd teams for several times. And, he was in 1st or 2nd teams in Olympic games and world champions for several time as well. I remember he was the score champion for 1 or 2 times. Of course, he hasn't win any title in nba or international basket game yet. I believe someday he will win the title with the rockets and your beloved Scola. BTW, if Yao wasn't a chinese, your beloved Scola wouldn't have the shoe contract.
i would think offensively yao's more or less the same as Zo at the same point of their repective careers. but Zo's a far more superior defensive player than yao. i think he's 2 times DPOY. and he played an important role in heat's title run. i don't think Zo deserves it either. but if it's between him and yao, and based on nba accomplishments only, i think Zo's ahead of yao.
Yao is in his 7th nba season, but Zo has retired! If you want to compare those two, you should wait till Yao is retired.
